The doc put me on 8mg a day. 4 in the morning and 4 at night. I've been reading that the less the better basically. Though he did say to take 4mg and see how I feel throughout the day. I'm on the film strips - much better than the pill imo. I took 4mg about two hours ago and I feel great at the moment.

    Anyone else on suboxone? Tips/stories??

    thanks!:afro:

my only tip is to not take it for a long time. its a miracle drug when it comes to detox. but i would limit it to a month or two. i was on suboxone maintenance for almost a year and it sucked. it was very hard to get off of, WD lasted for about 20 days. expensive too. i just picked up 5 strips so i can ween down of the H ive been doin lately. good luck with gettin clean man.

Yeah the doc gave me 4 of the 8mg strips to see how I do. I gotta go back to him on Wednesday for the the full script. Each strip is costing me almost $9 each with no insurance. So I figure if he gives me the full month script its going to cost me about $275-$300 a month. A lot cheaper than my actual habit but it still sucks. I've heard from people that you don't want to be on the subs for a while. As of right now I feel great - no cravings or anything (even though I just started today). I'm gonna see the least amount that I can take without feeling like crap.

I appreciate the feedback & thanks for the positive comments guys! :2thumbsup:

I was on suboxone for like... around three months. That great feeling goes away after about a month, and that is when the cravings kind of start. But I know you can do it, and that is awesome that you are going to be clean!

And oh, believe you me, I had no insurance either...
my girlfriend and I would scrounge together money and we got only like five filled at a time because it was so god damn expensive.

I love it. I take 6mg once in the afternoon (weird I know). I have no plans on stopping, as I know I would relapse in a second.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments! I appreciate them! Welcome to the forums, urlelove!

So I woke up and took 4mgs as directed and I'm having no cravings so far. I hardly slept last night - I dunno if it was from the initial suboxone dosage or what. I'm almost falling asleep at my desk right now. Anyone else ever have a hard time sleeping on subs?

    Thanks again guys!!!! =)

Yeah I haven't even bothered to ask my doc how long I'll be on these for. If they work then I have no problem staying on them for now. I've heard some people say to only use subs for detox. I want to use them more for the mental cravings that I get. So far they are working great. I'm just concerned with the long term usage. I know that there are some withdrawal symptoms from suboxone as well.

How long have you been on them for?

Don't listen to the bullies out there. Some ex-addicts make a 180 degree turn and act like the shorter you are on Subs, the 'cooler' you are. This is your health. Nothing to play with. If you, like me, use them mainly for mental cravings, you need to only take it one day at a time. Make no predictions, you know? And yes, there are WDs. It is a strong opioid!

As for me, I have been on it since the beginning of December 2010. I have not had any relapse since. I had to adjust my dose once, from 4 to 6mg per day. Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say.

That's awesome that you have been clean since December. Like you, I am taking them mostly for the mental cravings that I get. I'm on day 2 and so far so good. I appreciate your input. Since my doc has me on 8mg a day (4mg in the morning & 4mg at night) do you think that is too much? Should I lower my dose down to maybe 2mg in the morning & 2 mg at night?

    Thanks again! Appreciate it!!:)

8mg/day is pretty much the normal dose (although usually it is taken at once). I am on a low dose right now. That is why I had to go up to 6 from 4. I just didn't speak up to the doctor that I was still having cravings. Some people take 16mg even. Your doctor put you on that dose based on whatever amount you were using, so I'm sure it is that dose for a reason.

I was only put on 4mg originally since I was only using "light" opioids like Tramadol, Darvon, and Hydrocodone, but at huge doses (I would take like 17 50mg Tramadol pills).

8mg is a good dose for the time being, you can take it down a little once the craving go away.

I have been on in seven months. With two relapses early on. I started at 1 a day now im down to a fourth sometimes a half a day...but never more than a half. I still think about oc sometimes but i never have oc dreams anymore and i have forgot what it is like to be "high" on opiates. It was the best decision of my life. I feel a hundred times better... im actually saving money and im doing well in college. I have a good support group and i go to two NA meetings a week. The suboxone won't cure your addiction alone. Get hooked up with some people trying to get clean you will be amazed at the difference it makes.

yeah blitz - so far I'm on day 3 and I'm feeling pretty damn good. No cravings or anything. I went back to the doc today and he wrote my script for the month...which I'm filling on Friday.

ness - how are the mental cravings on a half a day? I'm assuming you have the 8mg strips...so you would be on 4mg's a day, correct?

The mental cravings are not really their but i would say it still is in the back of my mind at times but I don't have the mental urge to go out and buy any ...so i would say like a 3 out of 10 but when i was at a higher dose it was a 0 out of 10. And i actually have the 8 mg pills same thing as the strips though. So i break those into fourths and take one in the morning and one fourth at night. I sometimes give my self a little boost in the middle of the day with one more fourth but i try to stay away from that so i can start lowering my dose faster. I am starting to get the feeling that i never want to come off these things which is kind of scary

Yeah I've heard the less the better with suboxone. Meaning that you should take the least amount to kill of the cravings and stuff. I will eventually lower my dose but for now I'm going to stay at the 8mg a day. It's amazing how the suboxone totally kills off the mental cravings. I'm really liking it so far. I've heard of people on suboxone for years - I guess its just up to whenever you think that you can handle being off of them. Some people will probably be on them for a long time.

Are you going to any meetings?
