What is the distinction between free-love and slutting around? I'm curious on your opinions. What do you think is the difference? What does free-love mean to you?

 

hmm i hate the fact that people assume that coz u have slept with more then one or 2 guys ur a slut, i think each to their own. free love all the way, just be safe

with free love theres a mutual agreement that you can fuck other people, fucking other people behind your girl/guys back is slutty. If youre single and fuck a bunch of people I guess thats just being slutty.

 

Free Love means I won't charge or pay for love, duh....

Or for that matter, become involved in an unhealthy relationship, because you're still paying, with money or otherwise. I won't have my emotions fucked with.

Free love isn't an excuse for being a raging slut, it just means you don't have the "traditional" life ruining hangups about sex that you're expected to. If you have sex, it's no big deal. If you have sex with a different person every night, you're still a slut.

Or that's how I see it, anyway.

 

There is none, and slut is just a left over colloquialism to try to shame women from enjoying sex. There's very few people male or female who'd actually fall into "slut" category, where you have absolutely no standards of who you sleep with.

 

Interesting. So in a way the majority of you feel like the traditional idea that women who sleep with multiple partners is slutty, is just a way to keep women subservient. I can agree on this. In my opinion free love is fucking freely and loving who you're fucking without commitment. Personally I think women who enjoy sex should have sex with who they're attracted to whenever they want. But women who use it as means to gain what they want or intentionally seek out married men and are constantly looking for sexual gratification without regard for others feelings..are sluts. But women who enjoy sex and want to feel liberated and fulfill their sexual desires are beautiful and it's natural. Especially if there is a mutual agreement between two lovers that it is only for means of pleasure and their relationship wont go beyond a loyal friendship. Women who decide to not follow the role society has molded for them, who want to be free. I respect that deeply.

 

I think the word slut is an immature word. Something that teen girls call other teen girls when they're jealous of them.

That said, I think there are people (both guys and girls) who use sex as a means of coping with life. They use it to get approval or just something that makes them feel......feel anything at all. In other words, to them it's about themselves and not others.

Free love is about experiencing the act of sex in all it's many pleasures. It's about giving pleasure to you partner and not focusing on what's in it for me.

It's about getting pleasure from giving pleasure.

 

I feel the need to say, the rates of people with STD's seem to clearly speak of two types of women: Raging sluts, and those who don't have sex. Obviously, there's a happy medium. But there's lots of good reasons not to have sex all you might feel like with anyone you might feel like.

Just saying, as lots of people in here SEEM to be of the opinion that you should have sex any time you feel like it, with anyone you feel like at that moment.

 

You brought up such an excellent point here. I know I have found myself feeling that exact way... like I was a disposable pawn in their game. Could even go as far as saying that someone can be a slut without having sex at all by using "love" to fulfill their own shortcomings.

I think sluts are the ones that make sex dangerous for all of us, who have sex with people with no regard for there on safety or others.

I think it goes without saying, use protection. Doesn't mean you have to give up sex or having a variety of partners.

 

The title of the thread is kind of a different comparison than to the question being posed. There are some hippie girls who are monogamous/abstinent/etc ...I believe that is a distinction that should be noted.

In regards to the question, Free love to me would be a basis of sleeping with people based on their character or if you are shallower their looks but certainly maintaining honesty and straight forwardness. A slut to me is someone who is deceitful with their intentions and/or sleeps around mainly for material possesions and doesn't really have any true interests in the person she is with.

So basically someone spreading free love is probably an idealist with a high sex drive
And I guess a slut is a gold digger with impulse control problems.

a slut is hard for me to define. maybe someone who fucks around without considering the potential consequences?

Free love is a label designed to make it an equal playing field between women who enjoy a good fuck with whoever they want and men who do the same.

I personally find having sex with someone you don't care about another form of masurbation. Instead of a vibrator, you use a person, but essentially there is no difference.

in the end my opinion or anyone else's opinon doesn't matter at all. Fucking is something personal and none of anyone else's damn business, whether or not its free love, slutting yourself out, or having sex with someone you care about.

Men don't sit around and discuss what defines a slutty male, so why are women still discussing it?
