Nothing you will ever do will stop loose hair. There is also no quick fix. Embrace it. Or cut.

Its hard to do anything with the loose hairs, crocheting is prob the best method but you can also get the loose hairs and rub them between your fingers to make a little dread ball then wedge that into the roots of a dread/dreads.

Also get a needle,a large darning type one and if the loose hairs are really long thread the hair through the needle and sew into your dread and then back up on its self to keep stuck in.

Cant really think of anything else, the hairs used to really annoy me too but I just kinda leave them and then maybe a couple of times a year do the above to the hair that just wont dread!

I thhink I might have an answer to this. But I haven't tried it yet. I think if you cut the hairs to about 1.5 Inches and grouped them up with a dread and did a bit of clockwise rubbing that'd hold them in. Long hairs wont stay in for long!

Or just cut them up to the root and let them dread natrually with your new growth?

My advice would be to just let them do they're own thing. After three years, my loose hairs are finally forming little dreads.

I wouldn't recommend cutting hairs if you're growing dreads, best thing against loose hair imo is regular washing and salt water...

crocheting doesn't take too too long... if you power back your whole head and make sure you're not just working down the shaft but back up on it too (har har) it will stay in. then every couple of months just do that... honestly, two hours for your whole head 2 or 3 times a year is nothing if it makes you happy.
but you could always just leave it be...

Okay, than why do I find dreadheads on here that say the contrary? For example NP's FAQ sticky,

Not trying to start anything here. I just want to make sure I got the facts straight versus opinion. :)

If you thread / crochet loose hair, the lock will tighten up when you wash your hair ... guarenteed.

a light, quick brush of the hair, the loose hair blends in, and tie the lot back ... my solution for those times when one needs to be a bit neater in life

Otherwise, buy some hair glue ;)

the difference in opinions on salt water could be due to a difference in hair type.

crocheting=bad idea in my opinion. if you crochet you may tighten that hair you targetted all the while loosening and pulling more hair out of the lock.
