Labels have their place. It's just when people can't see past a label that it becomes a problem. Our brains categorize everything to make sense of the mystical world we live in.

I believe there is some value in pointing out the differences between women who are degrading themselves and those embracing themselves. But I also believe that each person's life circumstances are different and how some people may perceive another's promiscuity should not define that person.

i think free love is simply the abbility too choose whom you want too be with as apposed too the twisted old ways of arrangement you just live off spree of the now and nothing else i also think that the word slut should not exist only the word dishonest can describe what people perseve the word slut too mean if you devote and dedicate yourself too one person and then sleap with another thats dishonest and selfish however if you sleep with many people and have not verbally given yourself as an object into a 1 to 1 sexual relationship you are not a slut at all nor are you disshonest in my personal opinion and if people call you a slut because you enjoy variety of lovers they simply have hard feeling s thaT THEY DO NOT LIVE THE SAME lifestyle p.s. sleeping with other peoples partners is sceevy tho

It got taken that way fairly quickly though, I think its pretty obvious the implied meaning and who its directed at and perhaps even appropriate at times, just as I'm sure we know who the term 'pig' is usually directed at. Im not sure if its guys or girls who want to act like there is no difference in the sexual dynamics between males and females but everything from biology to our sexual social roles say otherwise.

 

slut is used in reference more toward women than men, but i've heard it used several times referring to members of each gender. not that i disagree with the posts about specifically female sluts, i just thought it was worth mentioning that it is not really gender exclusive anymore.

I'd just like to point out that the topic is open. The question wasn't meant to souly be about women and their lifestyles. I'm sure alot of men have been called things like player, man whore or slut etc. I'm really just in search of your ideas. I don't believe that all hippies are free-love advocates. It was just a simple way for me to divide the two with common termnology. I beleive sex should be a loving experience whether or not the two lovers are in a commited relationship or not. When I say loving I mean the two people care about one another. Perhaps they're friends and have taken the time to get to know one another or they're strangers who share the same view and have come to an agreement that their romantic relationship is limited to friendship and they are both free to go about their lives sleeping with whom they choose to.

As for the std arguement, good point. However there are precautions one can take to prevent these things. Free-love doesn't necessarily have to be a bareback adventure...although I wish it were safe to everytime.

I also appreciate all of your comments whether you are for or against free-love.

free love is where you have a partner or some type of connection with someone and dont take it past that. it was kind of the hippies way of revolting against state and marriage? its more so to keep your love unclassifed from government. to just keep your love free. almost like an open relationship, where you dont hold commitment to one and other besides that of your love right then and there. its just free man. it is what it is.

a slut is a girl who goes around having sex with people, and have no connection, before or after that night. almost just one who goes around picking a random fucken em and dont plan on ever having them in there life again.

at least with free love there is a forum of connection and partnership.
