I haven't posted here in ages, but last night I made a tea that I found to be completely relaxing, and slightly psychoactive feeling. I started off with the idea of making a tea of weed with any possible THC absorbtion, as smoking all the time gets boring. Realizing milk offered a small chance of THC absorbtion I decided to start off with earl grey tea since it'd go well with milk. Earl grey contains bergamot, which has natural anxiety and insomnia treating properties. I suffer from sleepless nights occasionally and am not one to fall asleep easy so this was where I came up with more ideas. I first decaffeinated the earl grey, a simple process of boiling out the caffeine. I then got 3 sprigs of some homegrown lavender I had stored and added that into the teapot, I have a loose tea brewer or whatever you would call it. Lavender is scientifically proven to reduce stress, and it always relaxes me. I then added some jasmine green tea, as the fragrance of jasmine itself is relaxing and the l-theanine in green tea is relaxing and stimulating both at the same time. The last to my batch was about .4g of some really good weed I have. I made sure to finely grind it up. I then poured about half a cup of warm whole milk into the bottom section of the tea brewer. I decided warm milk would be better so it wouldnt bring down the temperature of the boiling water when it was poured in. Also as many know warm milk itself is rather sedating. Lastly I boiled the water and poured it in, leaving it to sit about 5 minutes. I drank one cup at 10 pm and began to feel it around 1045. It was such a pleasant feeling without being overwhelming at all. I was completely relaxed and at peace, yet also very able to focus at the same time. It would be so perfect a tea to meditate with. I couldn't help but find myself meditating. I never meditate anymore, I usually watch tv or read before going to bed. Tv was just annoying, reading was rather uninteresting. I ended up just sitting in silence thinking, not exactly meditating with intent to meditate but meditating nonetheless. I was just chilling out enjoying it for a while, it was very, very nice. Effects were noticable til about 1215 And then by 1230 I was so ready to fall asleep. Normally I have to take melatonin and valerian root to even get sleepy, a habit I dont like as Im never well rested when I wake up and am tired most of the next day. I ended up passing out around 1 I think and woke up this morning waaaay more rested than I have in ages. Im definitely looking foward to trying this more, it was very enjoyable, relaxing and mellow. Even almost slightly euphoric, I had a very good, warm, happy feeling all night. I could also seeing it be a great cure for insomnia. I'll definitely be making it again tonight. As to whether or not any THC was absorbed I cant be positive either way. It would be very doubtful as its like impossible to control the temperature of boiling water and so many other factors, but I did feel a mild weed high more similar to a cooked THC high rather than smoked. I would guess some THC was absorbed. Sorry to bore you if this wasnt interesting at all lol, I was just intrigued how psychoactive a tea of herbs could be. Plus the taste wasnt really as bad as youd think.
Dudeeeeee, I waded though that mess but you really should put some spaces in next time. Kinda intriguing though, the combination of those natural relaxants with some good bud I'l bet it was a pretty good time. If you ever get the chance you should order some Kratum (sp?) it's a natural relaxant as well (legal) and it'll give you a pretty decent buzz/relaxing feeling (don't be fooled by the legality, get a few grams in you and you'll be feelin high). EDIT: You just inspired me to make my first pot of weed infused tea
I came up with an additional step the other night that I believe would dramatically increase the amount of thc absorbed. When making firecrackers you should cook your weed at 275 degrees for about 10 minutes as it activates some of the thc. Adding this step before making the tea would add more thc absorbed, so i hypothesize.
You beat me to it I was going to suggest that. The only suggestions I could make is perhaps add a drop or two of avocado oil or similar when baking it so it's almost a paste allot of the THC will go into the oil very easily (Use as little as possible and you wont notice it in the tea, if you use too much you get a layer on top of the tea, but you cannot taste it anyway) Also try heat the milk up to just before boiling point on the stove separately and let the heated weed paste steep in the hot milk for ~ 15 minutes before adding it to the tea. Doing both is how one of my best friends makes her tea (except it was just with camomile tea, yours sounds amazing!) when one of us has a crappy day. She uses 1g for two of us and we are very, very peacefully baked for hours. It’s truly amazing for getting to sleep, although I would recommend taking it ~ three and a half hours before you want to sleep. As you get very baked and the tiredness peaks around that time, just as it is wearing off. Let me know if you try it and how it goes!
Thanks much for the tip Thories! I was considering adding a drop or two of oil the next time, but the whole letting it steep in the hot milk prior to steeping the tea is genius! That has got to be a sure fire way to get stoned off of tea. Glad to find someone else who thinks outta the box. If I don't have avocado oil will olive oil do?
Thanks dude! You're welcome! Olive oil will do very well; we just normally have avocado oil in the kitchen. They will all absorb the THC roughly the same. Happy steeping!
I plan on trying weed tea with the revised recipe for the first time tomorrow. I just have two questions thories. First off I planned on just dipping the weed in oil, would that be too much or would that be good? Secondly I've never really boiled milk before, I usually microwave it. Would you recommend a kettle or just a plain pot? Also do you boil it around the same temperature as water? Thanks again.
