Back when I was in high school, our football team had a young man named --(no first name will I mention)--last name Peters. Prior to an important game ,he was injured in practice and was not expected to play on Friday. I imagine the local Paper had to think this one out. Could the headline read-- FRIDAYS GAME TO BE PLAYED WITH PETERS OUT. Easy to do, but possible. May have overloaded the stadium with girls from surrounding communities ,perhaps causing bleachers to collapse. Or: FRIDAYS GAME TO BE PLAYED WITHOUT PETERS. Much more difficult, but also possible. Not sure players would have submitted to such without massive protest . As I recall, the headline said something like several players injured during pratice and will not play Friday. A little cowardice goes a long way to maintaining civil order,I guess. PS:we won the game anyway. Peters or no Peters.
Once the inadvertent deception is revealed I'd expect it wouldn't be long before interest Peters out.
