Kinda wish I would have let mine start naturally. I'm just not patient enough.

just throwing this out there... after a bit more research into neglect/natural dreads i've stumbled across a lot of conflicting evidence of how long it takes to lock up... i guess it depends on the the texture and external encouragement (wool hats, wool sweaters on pillows, no direct intervention though) so i apologize for assuming i knew something about a method i clearly don't. i'll stick to my backcomb/crochet neck of the woods haha

Disagree all you have a mind to.

Go look up pictures of neglect at 4-5+ years. It will look the SAME as backcombs or basically anything else at that age. The only difference is maintainence. If you don't rip, any method makes odd sized large chunks of hair.

i genuinely appreciate you allowing me to speak my mind.

i guess i can see how a complete absence of maintenance would create generally the same outcome... the neglect dreads i've seen physically in front of me have had a very different texture than my own or even those of other people i have known to have them, but this makes sense, because we've all maintained, where the two sets of natural dreads i've seen have not in any way. always fun to bump into other dreads and talk about our hair haha. like i said, i think i'll stick to what i know :)

but this is not our thread, so sorry for the mini hijack.
