Not used to hearing such paranoid rhetoric from you lunar:confused:

But at least in the case of marijuana, the costs far outweigh the benefits or profits of prosecuting simple possession charges. Plus my comments are really only focused on cannabis, not the entire "war on drugs", which in itself is a horrendous black hole sucking up untold millions every year. But I highly doubt that the "war" will completely come to an end anytime soon.
But if we can win just a few small battles it's a start.

The problem with corporate prison system is that although I would hope most American know of it. Maybe not, it was news to you a while back. I don't think they are aware of the vast amount of profits involved for the corporations involved, the privately run prisons, and the various departments of corrections involved including the Federal prisons.

Until the day I pulled that website up for you, I knew the prison corporations were making good money, I was unaware of the facts that prison labor was being sold to private companies to the extent that it actually is. I don't think alot of people know that jobs are being lost to the governments cheap labor because all we hear about are jobs going south or over sea's.

I would hope that as more people become aware of the situation in light of how high unemployment is in the states that maybe people will start to raise a stink and then maybe something might change, but I won't hold my breath.

you only go to prison for pot if you are a grower or big time pot dealer.

in california you get a 100 dollar fine with no criminal record. it is not even a misdemeanor. it is simply like a traffic ticket.

my point at least in california it is no different smoking pot legally than if it is illegal. unless you are a grower or pot dealer. so basically my stand point is that prop 19 is pointless and many other stoners agree and will vote against it if it pops up again on next election.

i could type out a full on explanation why if you do not already understand but at the moment am to lazy. but I encourage everybody to vote no on 19 in the future if you are a california resident

Nope, but marijuana will probably be decriminalized to just a fine in my state by the end of the year too, so fuck the rest of the union *hits blunt*

I hope all 50 states decriminalize it. but yeah my posts were relating mostly to california since it already had a proposition voted on to legalize it. to you people in other states I feel bad that you have to deal with those stricter laws.

You should try the laws in Florida; 20 grams or more is a felony, which may or may not include prison time and fines. If nothing else you end up with a felony record.

While alot of the country has been moving in the right direction, we down here have been going the other way.

The Federal government sets their minimum at 300 plants to be charged with a Federal crime. Thanks to Governor Crist, Florida set that minimum at 25 plants. Those 25 plants will cost you 15 years in prison.

In reality it's a damn plant, it really shouldn't be any different then say growing mint to be used as a spice or to make tea.

So where I sit I'm going to do everything I can to work toward legalization.

Each new generation of narc thinks that their the generation who are going to stamp out drugs. The only way to do it, is to wipe out most of the vegetation on earth, just to be certain.

Well, I would feel the same way, except that common sense existed long before the tea party ignored it. It's more like them agreeing with ME on one point. They're evil pieces of shit, and it's just a means to an end for them. "states rights" refers to the right to declare slavery legal in your state, no matter how they twist it that's what it's supposted to bring to mind for their constituance.

    Jus' sayin'.

I read that the Mexican Cartel's are brining their business model to America. The tea party might maintain the status quo with drug policy or - increase prohibition intensity, so they might not impact the Cartels mission by much.

In some states at first, and then probably medical in most states. Once they see how much money other states are making on this plant they are going to want in on it.
