I just spent the day shopping with my mother and sister and good god it was awful. My sister needed just two outfits for some trip she is taking and it took us 6 hours to finish shopping! I was going to get pants but they took so long trying to find and then decide on what things to get, that I just couldn’t bring myself to spend any more time in the mall. So why does it take people so long to make decisions on such small things?
I can literally spend all day hiking, skiing, touring, but 1 or 2 hours in a mall and I'm physically and mentally drained. My body aches and I get headaches. I get some sort of sensory overload too when in any store with excessive of options. Even in Walmart, I get overwhelmed and fog-headed like I just spent a night drinking hah. I think shopping is unnatural and it's stressful, maybe more-so to men in general. Although I can shop Ebay all day
I don't mind shopping by myself, because usually very quick. If I'm shopping with someone else I usually go out to the car and listen to music and sleep rather than following them around.
I went to the mall yesterday...and the only thing I bought was incense. 30 patchouli cones and 15 Indian Sandalwood sticks. Took me about 10 minutes from leaving my dad in the center of the mall where there's a seating area to get to Earthbound, grab my incense, pay, and return to my dad. It was probably another 20 minutes before we saw my brother. He's a friggin' girl when it comes to the mall and shopping. And he never buys anything. Laaame. lol
so can i. i guess it is more engrossing than other shopping, maybe.. because it is kind of like browsing ideas... so you are lost in the ideas, somewhat... i had a panic attack in a shopping mall... true story! it is really stressful to me too... i am not claustrophobic, but shopping is a feeling that i think claustrophobia must be like... a feeling of being trapped...
Goodwill is okay, used book stores, record stores....still never wanna spend all day in a store... MALLS-NEVER!
my brother and mother are like that. When I go into a store, I'm in and out...but they take 20 years just to pick out socks! So I feel your pain!
That is a good way of thinking about it.... I like it I love clothes shopping too, but not in a mall. I haven't been inside a mall in years.
I'm only a total girl about shopping when it comes to clothes shopping. And that's only if they have a LOT of stuff I like and I'm on a budget. I've spent my whole life trying in vain not to be a girly girl and dammit...then the desire to look awesome surfaced and I fell to the estrogen.
i think a good balance of girl girl and tom boy is the most desirable a woman can be - seldom do w like extremes.
Shopping with other people, especially family, is really awful. I do almost of my buy shopping needs by myself. Even then it can be stressful. Too many people, annoying music, too busy blah. Aside from necessities, it's a big waste of time and money. Why did you have to tag along for the entire 6 hours?! Couldn't they just have at least left you at the mall to wonder by yourself, and search for your pants on your own?
I know what you mean! I like shopping as much as the next woman, but I hate it when my shopping partner spends so much time looking at the same product. Ugh! Just get it if you want it and let's go! I especially hate it when they do this a crowded store. That's why I never shop on Black Friday.
I detest shopping. It is an necessary evil when I need to do it. I plan what I am getting and get in and out as quickly as possible.
