I hear all kinda stories how ppl have cloned plants for years or kept the same plant for years but i've never been able to do this. The best i've ever done is 8 generations ie a clone of a clone of a clone etc before I start to see weak leggy growth more single or 3 bladded leafs and can be covered in heavy pre flowers and has a 20 to 30 percent loss in yield. If I keep a plant for more then a season it kinda starts to wanna flower and gets heavy pre flowers which dont amount to much when turned over to 12/12 cycle. Only real use i've found for such plants is breeding if I cross a female like this then the offspring will be totally like the male strain yet still be f1's and have the mix and fast growth that a first cross shows yet when smoked there the same taste and high as the male strain.

i cant keep clone of a clone of a clone too long.. it does get thinner and smaller buds. I like to restart seeds least once a year, keep a few plants going a year or two before they become fertilizer..

when I used to buy bud from time to time you would see thin buds and seen that for myself too from over cloning and old plants. The problem seems worse with true breeds ie every plants grows more or less the same. Even reveg plants seem a touch weaker and lack that certain something.
When grown correctly from seed there's really nothing like it.

i think its a big myth. Clones don't loose there dna tracks of mothers over cuttings infact they might get stronger just depends on the grower if. You take cuttings from the bottom of a dying infested plant then yeah I see why your cuttings would be shit. I'm sure I smoked a clone of a clone of a clone that was made into a mother then harvest for me to smoke. And I didn't even notice it in fact I'm sure you have too.

what moron would do this...no one i know would try and clone a sick plant...the move here would be nurse it back to health first. You do understand that we choose the healthiest most vigorous plants to clone, right?

Clone the best smoke the rest.

Maybe it me and still searching for perfection but you do see plants loosing there vigour over time. Mj only meant to live for a year in nature anyway but from taking clones you can extend it but ya cant escape it they dont last forever.

I agree, in perfect conditions a seed mother can last years with litle change but lets face it most of us are too busy or poor to keep everything in top shape. I also find it best to start a new seed once every year or two, it can been a long process to find "the one" but its very exciting too :)
