Sea and coastal ice is highly variable, it is the glacial ice caps that are the features that take significant time to form as well as significant time to melt.

I am suspicious of the premise that a map would accurately display ice free coastlines of Antarctica while at the same time accurately depicting coastlines of the other continents, because as I suggested an ice free Antarctica would dramatically change coastlines of the entire world.

There is a misleading passage in the description of the bauche map.

"but that the general topography of the lands beneath the ice matches the drawings on the Bauche map in every detail."

General topography is not detailed topography, therefore the "precise detail" could simply be two separate land masses, no matter what coastal details may or may not be present.

This passage reminds me of the way Von Daniken strings characterizations together to present the appearance of fact, when in fact, it represents faulty reasoning.

    This of the Fineaus map:

According to historians Paul Hoye and Paul Lunde, while Hapgood's work garnered some enthusiasm and praise for its thoroughness, his revolutionary hypotheses largely met with skepticism and were ignored by most scholars. In the book The Piri Reis Map of 1513 Gregory C. McIntosh examines Hapgood's claims for both maps and states that "they fall short of proving or even strongly suggesting that the Piri Reis map and the Fine map depict the actual outline of Antarctica."

there will always be that element of snobbery and defensiveness when you have a relative amateur challenging the anals of academia... (pun intended) :D

correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't some of the areas charted, beneath the ice cap?

we're going way deep… too much reading material for me to respond… all that we can draw from the facts can be negated… also, what you suspect is a misleading passage, could well be semantics… there is such a term as general topography... and precise details could be drawn from that category? it could be read either way...

for me there are too many things that suggest we have loooong lost civilisations… not just the piri reis and other maps… i mentioned a handful of them earlier… there are many more i didn't mention...

and in conclusion for my part, i still think that what we are taught in history, is just the current accepted paradigms… ofcourse, that is entirely appropriate given that the status quo has to be maintained in and of itself…

final conclusion… i remember when food tasted like food… when i grew it and cooked for myself/family… and with all the shit that is pumped into meat etc… it's filthy… maybe that's a bit strong… maybe not...

I couldn't find a copy of the map that the author says matches the topography depicted above. This point could be settled easily if you have access to the supposed older ice free antarctic map, then we could possibly make the same comparison the author did.
I don't begrudge you at all a conviction that there are long forgotten advanced civilizations on earth. I do not rule out the possibility.

Not to long ago I ate some meat form a cow that had been raised by a family
in my neighborhood. The taste was surprising, being very different from beef I had eaten from the store.

I know! I've been eating beef from cattle that my friend's dad raised, and the difference in taste is really noticeable. It tastes a bit like grass, in a good way. I also think when you flavor the meat, the flavor blends a lot better, but that could just be my imagination.

We so need a map thread with just tons of maps. I'm not sure where to put it though, maybe the history forum.

The insidiousness goes well beyond merely the contents

I went to purchase some sargento swiss cheese slices when I noticed that the packets for low fat swiss cheese contains 9 slices whereas the regular swiss cheese contains 12 slices [IMG]

That was the case for each variety of cheese from sharp to provolone; when its low fat there are fewer slices at the same cost [IMG]

Dude there was a show about this(I forget the name) they said the easiest way for the man to control the population is by putting poisons in the food we consume.

They say the FDA is monitoring the food imported etc but are you there personally watching over their shoulders to make sure everything is safe?

Obviously the best way to control your population is to just kill everyone.

Fun fact, organic food is actually more carcinogenic than regular food.

Does this entitle them to be more smug than their fellow oncology patients when being administered chemo?

..and no, I must differ with your assertion... the best way to control them is to get them to kill each other... no blood on your hands.

    Yes, in every regard.

What no one ever tells anyone especially when they mention it with weed is the fact carcinogens are not a good/bad thing and come in all kinds of various possible danger levels. But shhhh, it's a secret.

Not that I agree with this, but just to play the devil's advocate: Why kill off people when they are paying taxes and consuming more? Funding your military? Buying and testing out your pharmecuticals in mass quantities? Yet complacent (via antidepressents, propaganda and fear tactics, shit jobs with a high cost of living, horrible health problems on the rise due to processed food/pharma-side-effects/stress/lack of education, and media warping our self-esteem so we become even *more* complacent) so as not to have a thing called a revolution!

I hate to reopen this can of worms, but .....

I have been trying to find a specific case in which there was a conflict of interest with a previous Monsanto employee serving as a judge on a Monsanto case. Here is what I found.
