In fact, has anyone ever? I say it to everyone even for small things. How much can it hurt to say it? Nobody has any manners
Please and thank you are now myths. But if you hold a door for someone that doesn't say thank you, make sure you yell "you're welcome" right in their face...they'll thank you alright!
I say please and thank you!! I held a door open at the gas station the other day he didnt even look at me and when he got right past me he chuckled. I said "your welcome":sunny:
Good manners cost nothing however, It seems 'Education to the ignorant' can cost a $£$£$ fortune, and that perhaps after consideration can be deemed as not cost-effective But if we all do 'our bit' maybe, maybe it could catch on < Peace + Love – Protest and Protect – Save the Planet > eace:
I sometimes don't say anything when someone holds open a door for me. big deal. they held open a door. I did not ask them to hold it open and I do not mind opening a door myself.
i like to save it for occasions when I really mean it...using it too much subtracts from its value same as the word "love"
I think you have to live in the deep south to hear "please", "thank you" and anything else that has to do with good manners.
i always try to use good manners ...... just cos everyone else is acting like ignorant twats don't mean i've turned into one
Some people look at me like the second coming of Jesus when I hold a door open for them in some places.
I can't stand when I get my change back or receipt in a store & I say thanks, & I guess it would kill the cashier to say ur welcome back.
Saying please and thank you is habit. I consciously trained myself to say it and I see it changing the mood of others. That comes back to me, the reason I'm polite is for me in the end.
This thread strikes close to home for me. I can spend my money anywhere and nobody cares enough to say thanks. Lots of "Have a nice day" - but no thanks. I was raised saying thanks. I cornered the manager of Winn-Dixie one day and asked why the f*** (not in that phraseology) nobody says thanks when I check out. He said they were supposed to but nobody actually does. And a smile - how much trouble is that? I'll sometimes ask a clerk if a smile cost extra.
