I floss...every now and then. And every time I can feel something stuck in there. I should floss more cuz...well...all I can say is don't smell your floss afterwards (lol, yeah, I'm weird). Uck. We just ran out, though, need to buy more.

think about what you just said in the above.
you stated that, "plaque and bacteria build up in the mouth while asleep."
    that is quite correct!
the vast majority of plaque and bacteria build up while we sleep.
since that is the case, brushing and flossing is best done upon rising.
that is the general rule however, it is best to have a dentist and/or hygieist work with you to develop an 'individual dental health plan.'
to every rule there is always exceptions... there is no such thing as a "one size fits all" when it comes to health care.

most of the time i floss once a day. once again that is the general rule when it comes to flossing.
if you do not have bad breath, sensitive, bleeding, or receeding gums; most likely you are doing a very good job at your dental hygeine with flossing.
everyone should floss once a day.
flossing is more important then brushing.
the reason that is so, is because, the plaque and food particals that get between the teeth and under the gumline can only be removed by flossing. flossing get where brushing can't reach.
plaque that gets under the gumline is the worst part of the mouth for hygeine.
plaque under the gumline causes gum disease. the bacteria from the plaque under the gumline gets into the bloodstream and can cause sever heart problems and even death from infections.
cavities wound teeth but, gum disease kills teeth, and can kill the host of the teeth!

tounge scrapers work great for most people however, they work poorly for me.
i use a tounge brush, with biotene dry mouth toothpaste.
biotene is a mild toothpaste which makes it ideal to use tounge

I never floss. My dentist tells me to. Does mouthwash work as well as floss?

No a good floss really cleans the gums. If someone has not done it in ages good chance you will bleed. This is not a bad thing though, just over due. Mouthwash wont do that.

Id rather floss then rinse with water. Mouthwash to me is just a bunch of chemicals and alcohol.
