I've got a couple of dogs but only one is a rider. He's a little grey schaunzer and the boy flat out loves riding in cars, trucks, tractors, on the lawn mower and he used to howl wanting to get on the motorcycle. His favorite is in my old convertible. He hangs his front feet over the edge of the door and gets a face full of wind. Every once in a while he'll look over at me and grin. Sometimes I just holler at ol Scottie and the two of us take off and cruse the backroads soaking up Sun and Wind. So any of you take yer pooch, cat or other furry friends (stange inbred relatives don't count) riding.
Our furry friends will not take car accidents very well.. While there may be no other alternative .. I prefer to let my dog walk where he needs to go..
My dog rides in the back of the pickup in the spring/fall/summer. I let him hop in the extended cab for the winter, but he doesn't like it much.
Yeah every day My 54 kilo mastiff x boy Bully and my new red cattle x girl Bella ride with me. Bell isn't so much a window girl she just likes to snuggle up next to me. For her it's about being where ever i am. I've nick named her 5 o'clock (as in shadow). Bully on the other hand allways has his big fat head out the window with his chops flapping the breeze. People allways point at him and smile because he's so big and gorgeous. It looks really funny his eyes bug out from the force of the wind but it doesnt bother him. I laugh and ask him if he's drying out his eyeballs hahah. He leaves a jet stream mark on my windows from all the slobber but its nothing a car wash won't fix
I would LOVE to be able to ride my emotionally disturbed border collie, Jack! I have to give him his rabies shots! He is a "rescue" as in when he appeared here, we kept him and didn't call animal control on him....that being said..... If I ever get another dog, the first test is going to be if he/she will Get In the car! Buddy, our old orange cat, likes to get right in front of the car when I pull in and NOT MOVE. I will put the car in park, put Buddy in with me, and always just drive him up the driveway. Buddy is not, however, interested in going out of the yard.
My boyfriend and I both drive Tercels so there isn't any room for our dog, and our cat would scratch our faces off if we put her in the car. Also, the dog gets car sick and that isn't fun.
I wish I could, but my dog pees the moment he gets somewhere he's not supposed to pee. And it's the first car either my boyfriend or I have driven with nice interior, so I don't want to end up with dog pee stink in it. Haha. He seems happy as a lark just hanging around here and going for walks every now and then.
Yeah I agree with you on this and don't take him when I go into town. Around the farm and the backroads here theres little danger of accidents because there is so little traffic and the roads dictate low speeds. I freak when I see people in town driving with their dog in their lap...though I think some of the dogs would be better drivers than the owners.
I traveled with a cat once and had a 50 foot rope to let her roam a little when we stopped to camp. If a cat gets spooked and you're on the road without a restraint--adios kitty. She loved traveling.
I just got a puppy like four days ago and I've been taking her everywhere with me so she's already used to the car. She likes to stand in my lap and hang her head out the window until she gets tired, then she curls up beside me.
i don't have a pet currently. growing up we went through several dogs. some liked rides, so we took them on rides. some hated them, so we didn't.
a german shepherd black lab mix. I've been torn between getting a german shepherd or a lab so I was thrilled when I found her lol
