Have there been any studies showing the long term effects of LSD users? I've heard a few people trying to scare others, by saying you should only touch the stuff once or twice a year, otherwise it tends to fry your mind. Any personal opinions about long term use?
LSD does NOT fry any-fucking-thing. It is about one of the safest substances you can take, sugar has more negative long term effects. Studies following patients who were part of clinical trials and psychiatric treatment found that overall less than .01% had lasting negative effects. There are the cases that go very bad and permanent, but those are so rare, you have a better chance of being hit by a metorite. Here is a relatively recent risk assessment for LSD treatment of cluster headaches; http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:qGGR_ehqIb0J:www.clusterbusters.com
NO, habitual use of ANYTHING is unwise. Lets just say that physically, yes taking LSD every weekend wouldn't be harmful. But it can also take a lot longer to psychologically and emotionally process an intense or high dose trip. Doing psychedelics weekly usually results in the person becoming lees grounded in day to day reality and generally spaced out. Been there done that But after laying off for a couple of months most folks return to "normal" or at least normal for post psychedelia. When I was younger and had access I took acid A LOT and often. Now I find I get more out of psychedelics by doing them infrequently rather than frequently. The more life and experience you got under your belt between trips, the more insightful and revelatory they will be. Unless of course you are just thinking of LSD as a weekend party drug and use it as such. Then Lucy often gets upset with such disrespect and will put you in your place when you least expect it.
I have defiantly felt spaced out after a big weekend on it, so I kind of treat is as a special treat for once or twice a month, no problem with that right?
