they usually dont care ...if they cared the bin would be locked in behind a fence (crappy tire does that here..plus they destroy items because some idiots take things from the bin and try to return them for cash)

they have to pay to get that bin emptied..the less they have in it..the less it costs them

 

your right..i heard that the best job ever is the guy that throws out the returns at canadian tire...tools...sporting goods and kitchen stuff to the max...also...walmart...but they are nuttier about security....

I know a guy who worked in a government place and they were so determined to not have employees take items from the garbage that broken/obsolete equipment stuff got locked up and there was a guy who's job it was to travel to the different locations ..record and audit all damaged equipment then destroy it even more to make it completlety unusable before throwing out

 

I used to work for a carpentry business and the owner was super anal about all returned or messed up jobs, on cabinets. If a cabinet/door was messed up or nicked or couldn't be sold for whatever reason, he'd have a guy store it in a big locked metal box out back, sort of like a train car.

He (the owner) said he didn't want the possibilty of someone stealing his finishes and spray colours that were "unique" to his cabinets.

One night a guy (we never found out who) showed up with his truck and cleaned out the box. The dude got away with a free kitchen pretty well. Cabinets, fridge cover, new doors.

After that the owner started making the guy who had the job of taking things out back start breaking all the defected pieces with a hammer so that if they were stolen, they were busted to all hell.

 

I just don't understand this.

When I worked for the state of Illinois, they used to auction off obsolete but usable stuff to the public.

 

This is either bullshit or craziness.
