From the latest news I've seen, additional charges have been brought related to Manning, and the prosecution says they will not seek the death penalty for him.
Assange, if charged, extradited, and tried by the U.S., and even if found guilty of any charges brought against him, should not expect harsher, or even similar punishment than that which Manning might receive. Manning will likely be found guilty and receive life imprisonment, if the facts relating to the charges against him are proven true.
I don't think the U.S. would really wish to make Assange a bigger issue than he has already been made. Manning is another story.

Ironically CNN and other agencies are now using information leaked by wikileaks to scrutinize one of the heads of Japan's nuclear energy program. Fucking hypocrites.

Where are the weathermen when you need em?

Someone spring manning and drop these guys off in some remote fishing village already.

They are in Washington, Wall Street, and schools today and just exercise a different tactic today.

I agree that something should be done more quickly with Manning, if he is suspected of wrong doing, he should be charged, and tried and found guilty or innocent.
He might try a hunger strike to get the ball rolling. At the moment, I think government is waiting in hopes that something will occur that they can relate to the leaks to strengthen their case against him, and may even try to manipulate something to happen.

Well yes... I just meant I liked them better when they blew things up and saved people :p

I dunno, assange isn't the worlds nicest guy, but I'm worried for him too. Life in US prison is NOT humane, especially not if they dislike you, especially anywhere as much as they dislike him.

But manning is the one going crazier by the minute in suicide watch solitary confinement, and as such, deserving of more immediate attention.

The media dug into it just enough to destroy the lives of the people involved, but not enough to get close to making them the heroes they should be.

If they actually kill this guy...I hope it motivates people to act. Something tells me "Because he violated our national security" won't due as a good reason in killing a peaceful man. Execution is a barbaric, 'purification' ritual that needs to be stopped.

    Free Julian Assange.

If you want something done right, do it yourself.

Manning should be tried, found guilty of violating his oath, sentenced to time served, dishonorably discharged, and released.

Assange, as best I can tell has broken no laws.

Where? This is my main question, and unless there is another answer somewhere, I'm assuming it's not treason but the US is going to try to accuse him of it anyway.

Does the U.S. have an outstanding warrant for Assange? If so, what are the charges contained in the warrant? If not, what is the fear based on? A possible assassination attempt based upon U.S. anger? That could be accomplished outside of the U.S. more easily than inside the U.S.

Once word gets to the people of what they've been missing. They won't like it at all. It might take some time to settle, but its like a cancer. It starts off nice and quiet, then there's this spark. You can never see it in the moment, but it happens. Before you know it, the whole country is pissed off and Assange is on a cross behind the gates of legislation.

The good part is, there's plenty of fuel for the fire. America has been keeping A LOT of things from it's citizenry. Assange is smart in that he's letting it go gradually. Releasing it all at once would look something like a gas explosion. Things would get nasty and his life would truly at risk, as would a lot of other peoples.

Just a matter of time, or so I hope. America's apathy is un-predictable.

And just to add on to that. If Assange is sacrificed to the gods of injustice, I will hail him as my own personal Jesus, and make it a mission to trample on his killers with vengeful pleasure. Even if I have to wait until they die, just so I can dance on their grave.

At most Assange might be wanted for questioning, but what charges might be brought to bear, and what could he possibly be charged with that could result in the death penalty. He is probably in more danger of assassination by some nut who disagrees with Wikileaks. Shouldn't our focus be on Manning rather than Assange?

Sickening. Why should assange be killed when so much innocence has been extinguished already.

    A terrible world.
