If peace ever brakes out the U.S. economy will see the next great depression. Our government spends $700 billion per year on the pentagon, and that's not counting the $3 billion per month that is spent on the Iraq/Afghan wars, or Libya. It takes the next 20 most powerful governments defense spending added together to equal what our government spends. If we don't have war, the bullets, bombs, tanks, jets, and all other military equipment doesn't get used up. Then then the government will have to lay off all the builders of the war machine. And all the defense contractors of America will go into bankruptcy. War sustains the U.S. economy like plankton sustains ocean life. BTW, the nuclear fallout in Japan will probably wipe out the plankton in the Pacific Ocean. Don't go out in the rain.
sad, 32 views but nobody cared enough to agree or disagree. how can it change if nobody cares? maybe nobody thinks it can be changed. the old golden rule, those with the gold make the rules. America's motto "fuk you, me first" Do I sound jaded? is anybody out there? lol
Military spending is stimulative in a Kenysian way. Just watch your peacenik Senator react when Gov. threatens to chop a procurment program or close a military base. Politicians treat the military as a giant jobs program.
Many economists have now acknowledged that the U.S. has transformed itself from a consumer based economy, to a war based economy.. Will it now be impossible for us to extract ourselves from Iraq, without causing a train wreck for the U.S economy. Is perpetual war in our future? Will we attack Iran to stave off the looming recession?
