As most of you probably already know, Project for the New American Century (PNAC), a group of highly influential neo-conservatives, many of whom have interests in the USA government and/or the oil industry, which boasts members such as Jeb Bush, Dick Cheney, Dan Quayle, Donald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz, planned an invasion of Iraq and called for a regime change in 1998. (www.newamericancentury.org)

Considering that the Iraq war, or occupation rather, was planned long before September 11, 2001, it becomes obvious that the reasons for the invasion that were proposed by the US government were indeed fictitious. Then why, one must ask, did the US really invade Iraq?

Perhaps Paul Wolfowitz described it best in June 2003 while in Singapore when he stated, "Let's look at it simply. The most important difference between North Korea and Iraq is that economically, we just had no choice in Iraq. The country swims on a sea of oil."

Iraq controls the second-largest supply of oil on the planet: roughly 11% of the world's total reserves. This is oil that the US will desperately need in the future as the end of cheap oil begins to destroy the country. Eventually, as we draw closer and closer to the end of the age of oil, the world's economy will see a virtually complete collapse, stomping on the poor as the rich, the select few who will be able to afford what we now consider the necessities of life, gain complete power over the world and its few remaining resources.

As you can see, oil is a prized possession. In fact, our way of life cannot and will not be sustained without it. In effect, one can understand the US government's motivation to occupy Iraq. However, this merely scratches the surface. You see, the US does not simply want to control Iraq's oil but rather all of the Middle East's oil.

By removing Saddam Hussein's regime from power, the US planned to reduce the Saudis' leverage on the oil market. You see, PNAC's goal was to fully return Iraqi oil to market, therefore destroying the Saudis' ability to set oil prices. In a nutshell, the idea of the Iraq war was to strengthen the US foothold in Saudi Arabia and secure the military bases there. After all, Saudi Arabia controls more oil than any other country on the planet.

What the US government fears is not only the end of oil but the eventual Middle Eastern control of all of the world's remaining oil. The OPEC nations will peak last and will soon be supplying 40% of the world’s oil. In time, that number should rise to nearly 100%. With OPEC controlling all of the world's oil, the US government fears that the group will be free to set prices at any number they so desire, therefore resulting in the end of cheap oil.

September 11, 2001 gave the US government the go-ahead to carry out the plans that PNAC outlined three years earlier. They planned to easily defeat Saddam Hussein's army and install a puppet government which would "ask" that US bases be permanently established in Iraq to preserve security. This would create secure military bases for future operations. What the US government did not plan on, however, is the fact that many Iraqi citizens are not taking kindly to the occupation. The Iraq war is turning into the new Vietnam, only with one major difference: unlike Vietnam, the US cannot afford to pull out of Iraq.

Well, in a way, you're right. There is no "war." There is simply an occupation that has met unexpected resistance.

Actually no.. people are getting smarter... Buy Nothing Day this year cost companies millions, it was their worst day-after-Thanksgiving ever. Companies who are in this war are likely to be boycotted by millions, therefore lowering their sales.

There's tons more sites on the net, those are just 4 I found on the first 7 pages of Google. In 2003 the Diebold CEO promised the state of Ohio to Bush.

It would have been no different if Kerry would have won. The Oil Wars would still continue.

So you're saying that we need to exterminate billions of people to return the world's population to a number sustainable without oil? Well, you may very well get your wish.

You fool. Do you not think this will affect you? When America falls, so will the rest of the world.

America has a violent war history, and the US government will not go down without a fight. The neo-conservatives would have no problem taking the rest of the world down with them.
