For my money the world would be better if all the so-called good books were pitched and forgotten. Never happen. I have no use for fundie religion of any stripe but I do understand what it means to those folks in Afganistan. I damn sure don't agree with it but I do get it. They are impoverished, backward by most standards, almost completely uneducated save by the mullahs who teach them that the koran is sacred. Look at it from their standpoint...they got nothing in life and their only hope is that Allah is gonna haul their ass off to paradise when they die. Then that scum burns the one thing that represents any hope to them. Burns it and makes sure they know it...a direct affront to their very existence. That is inexcuseable. He was told months ago about the harm that would cause. He was told there would be riots and bloodshed. He didn't care. He wanted some "hey look at me time". I agree with underwear.....burning a book does not justify murder. It is so stupid that all of these countries fight over religion. Everyone who believes in a God...usually believes in a good God...the Koran is not evil...nor is the Bible..but you'll always have those groups that change the meanings to fit their radical agendas. I am a Christian but i do not believe in religion. Although...i do respect other's beliefs enough not to disrespect them. Everyone will believe what they want..but it's not right to condemn anyone because they don't believe in the same thing. Some people are just looking for any reason to be radical and kill...burning the Koran was stupid...but what i think was more stupid...is the attention he was given for doing it. Media is to blame for a lot of chaos these days..just for stirring shit up with people that already are pissed about shit. If the media wasn't on the story..no one but this dude's friends would have know he burned it. All just propoganda i say...and instigators..stirring shit up.

What that guy doesn't understand, apparently, is that we do have troops over there that are trying to live. These people see Americans all the same, so I'm sure there will be major repercussions against American troops over there because of this.

Some people have gone too far to protest...i am all for free speech ...but he went too far...i feel the same way about him as i do those fucked up people who protest at funerals...whatever their reasons. Even if they thought their logics were right to protest...why a funeral? Again...a cheap shot free speech crutch.

 

I tried to pull up the website for Terry Jones' church, the Dove World Outreach Center (ironic name, huh?) but apparently it's been shut down. I guess too many people have contacted them to say Jones has shit for brains and has no business preaching the word of God.

Still, the Koran condemns murder no less than the Bible does, and the Muslims who have killed people in the riots have effectively condemned themselves. What is their logic in blaming all Christians for the actions of a severely misguided, common-sense challenged religious fanatic?
