For the last week or so, I've only been having one meal a day. It's all I can afford. And it's only ramen. So one thing of ramen a day, and lots of water.

Anyway, for the last week or so, I've been feeling this need to deficate. However, everytime I go to the bathroom, I get this searing pain in my abdomen and all that comes out is blood.

I have an appointment at the Student Health Center tomorrow, but i wanted to know...What do you think this could possibly be. I remember from health class that bleeding rectally is a sign of cancer. I wouldn't be posting this if I wasn't totally freeked about the cancer thing...

I suspect it's that since you're only eating white noodles you are severly constipated and mal nourished. A cheap source of protiens and fiber is dried beans and brown rice. Even if you can throw in a quarter cup of dried peas with your soup you'd be better off.

Pewrhaps taking a trip to the food bank is in oder?

maybe I should...I do get to go to the cafeteria once a day, but I've only been having a tomato and onion sandwich and cream of mushroom soup....Other than that, I just eat ramen....

yeah sounds like your diet is not very good. I know how that isb eing a student and being at exam time myself. I boiled up some mung beans and buck wheat and left it in my fridge s o i can add it to anything I need. Do you have aany sort of fridge or stove you can acces in your dorm?

yea, but I don't have any $$$. I'm down to 5 bags of ramen and maybe 5 allowed meals in the cafeteria to last me until the 17th...that and the kindness of friends :&

Yeah, that sounds like constipation to me... which I know all too well.

I don't particularly enjoy beverages so every couple months I will get unbarable sharp pains in my abdomen. They've even hurt so bad that I've had trouble breathing, or got dizzy and passed out. It's miserable really.

The blood could be from a couple of things. If it's just a little blood on the toilet paper, then most likely it is a ruptured blood vessle, which is nothing to worry about. That would just be from straining too much. If you have more blood than that, then there could be a more serious problem. That's all I know.

Yeah look into the food bank if you're down to nothing, it's Anynomous here in Canada, all they need is to see your health care card.

one more thing. My wife suggested fruit juice, particularly pear juice. fats (butter, olive oil) are aslo good for keeping things moving.

Why does your dorm only allow you one meal a day? Could you talk to the dean of students or your parents about this. Malnutrition is very serious.

My dorm allows me more than one meal a day, but I got the wrong meal plan...a smaller one then what I should have gotten...And I used some meal blocks to pay for a birthday cake for a friend, and didn't figure that in...So I thought I was covered three meals a day for the rest of the semester, but I'm not. I used too many on that damned cake and now can only afford one meal a day. I have no cash :(

Oh! I have a friend with extra meal blocks. She takes me to lunch everyday now. I've been eating a fibrous salad and drinking juice as if my life depended on it. However, there is no change as of yet. :(

Oh yea there is...No blood now...No blood, no poo, no gas....Nothing....My body's almost shutting down or something.

You definitely need some good nutrition. You should do cheap things... like buy a can of garbanzo beans to put on your salads. They are like a dollar each and contain much goodness. Same with soybeans. Try not to eat too much salt or sugar (that means ramen). If you have access to a kitchen... another thing to do is spurge and buy a bunch of veggies and make a huge pot of veggie soup. The soup can keep about a week in the fridge, and longer in the freezer. If you put barley or lentils in it, it is even better.

    Good luck,
    peace

I did, but being cold/flu season, they don't have any appointments...So I have had to deal with this myself...and in taking everyone's advice and all, I think I've cleared it up! :D

Cleared it up and out? LOL
I'm glad you're feeling better. You should still see a doc to make sure it's nothing more serious when you can. It's good to eliminate everything. I mean all other alternatives not eliminate...

If you buy in bulk you can get about a pound of couscous for like 2 bucks at some markets. Just ask everyone you see if you they can bum a quarter or someting. I one did that for 20 minutes at school and had enough to by lunch in the cafateria. I did get weird looks when I paid entirely in loose change though.
