I actually think it's safe to say that after the 80's music took a big shit dive. I mean some genres of music have gotten way better, but as far as pop music goes, all of it is 100% pure poop these days.
I love everything about the 80's! The music, the cartoons, the styles, the slang, the MOVIES - EVERYTHING!
The 80s were pretty bad...I'd definitely say they are tied with the 00s for the worst decade in the last 50 years, although, they might not be as bad as the 00s, simple for the fact the the underground scene was really born in the 80s.
Also, I can't explain how happy I was when I saw that this was the first thread in the forum. :2thumbsup:
Theres nothing like like drinkin and listenin to hair bands with friends on the weekend. The movies from back then are cool, even if theyre a little cheesy. I think the 80s is the best decade so far...and probably the last haha
Well if the decade of the 'black plague' wasn't recorded in history, Id give it to ya. The music reflects the times. People were confused, on lots of coke, and for some reason enjoyed the sounds of a synthesizer. Regan was president at some point and for reasons unknown we haven't been able to keep our shit together since.
No the 80's was the best era! Other than the "Valley Girl" stuff, it was awesome. Madonna came out and taught us that it's ok to be different, and she really pushed the envelope with her style. Kenny Loggin's Footloose was badass. Most people I know remember those songs from that movie and can still sing it word for word lol. A lot of the 80's music was just the bands from the 70's kickin' it up a notch.
I wasn't alive then and I completely disagree. The 2000's was the worst decade so far and the current one will surely take that title by 2019, if it continues the way it is now. I don't consider much of the music of the 80's to be "cheesy" either, at least what I listen to. If anything, that's when shit was real. Even the production on albums sounded better then. I don't like this modern digital sounding stuff, it sounds sterile to me. A lot of the best music came out back in the 80's, as far as metal and hard rock is concerned. Some of you might disagree but I think the 80's was the last decade where real rock n roll was celebrated. Now people seem to look down upon all the things that made the music great and dismiss it as "cheesy" or "dated" or whatever bullshit term. I say an album like The Last Command by W.A.S.P. has more spirit, emotion, attitude and power than anything "modern." There's nothing cheesy or fake about it.
Ha, I don't even have a problem with some glam but that photo does not represent them at all. My original quote still stands and they are damn near my favorite band. It's a shame bands today don't care about having some spectacle or stage presence. Sure, it's the music that counts but why not have it all?
