I just had a moment of clarity today after going for a long run. I realize now you guys were right about everything. We really do have to get back to the garden. I can see clearly now how much fear is being spread, how much we are destroying the earth, how much we are being lied to keep working and consuming. I can see what happiness is and how it isn't worth money. It's just peace of mind, love, connecting with each other, and knowing our surroundings are clean and natural. I don't know what to say... and I don't know what to do. But I know humanity is going in the wrong direction. And the U.S. and China are leading it. I pray that we can all wake up soon.

huh? What I mean is that my generation seems to be very comfortable and not really doing much to take action the way the youth in the 60's seemed to have done. We got so many problems to confront yet we're all just living comfortably under our parents roof while everything seems to be falling apart. I'm not bad mouthing parents just saying my generation was brought up with everything given to them so I feel we're kinda lazy not very action oriented. BTW I love your signature

Not all parents were necessarily part of the counterculture. Mine weren't. They never protested or anything. I don't think I've ever met anyone who's parents protested the war or were hippies or partook in the counterculture in the 60s. But anyways what happened to all of you then? Teach me cuz my parents cant lol
No, not all middle aged people were protesters or lived like what you see on the movies. That doesn't mean that they lived in a bubble. It was a different time...and they lived in that time. I'll bet you your parents saw some cool shit. My parents grew up in the 60's and 70's, and they weren't "hippies."...but they do have some pretty cool stories. And they are pretty accepting of my lifestyle and my choices, even though they're kind of straight edged now. If you find yourself saying "My parents can't teach me" you need to take a second look. I don't know how old you are, but it took me a while to realize that some of the most important things in my life I learned from my parents. How to love, how to be the best me I can be...and how to be myself, even if its not who they wanted me to be. You can't "Learn" a lifestyle. If you want to do something, just do it. Nobody can teach you how to be a loving, caring, free individual except for the people who love you most. A bunch of people on the internet can't teach you that. There's no guide book for being free, and people who have lived the way you think is ideal can't show you how to find your path. you have to find it for yourself...its an individual journey. I know you probably feel like you're getting flamed on, but please don't be offended.
So heres the deal as I see it Red/Green. You gotta walk that lonesome valley by yourself. Your folks might be radicals or rightwingers but it's your show completely at this point. You had your moment of Epiphany today when you were running. Thats what it takes. I grew up in the 50's/60's. You want complacent...holy shit! It was a Leave it to Beaver world and nobdy was shaking our cage to tell us different. We each had our moment of realization. Mom never sent me off to school and said "have a nice riot son", "see if you can score a lid of good Shit". Like you, we began to see that we were being lied to and bullshitted by a system wanted some good little robots. We had a lot to be pissed about when we started seeing what our world was really like. We got all crazy and radical for a while but somewhere along the line we lost our roach clip and started buying suits instead of bell bottoms. At least many did. Some of us hung out in the garden cause it really did seem like the right thing to do. Some of us discovered our values then and decided to live our lives accordingly. In the end it comes down to the individual. Do you hold on to your values or trade 'em in for a Lexus and a 6 figure salary. You're right in much of what you posted except for wasting time looking for someone to blame. Find yourself Bubba, find your soul and sort out what it will mean to hang on to it...or figure out what flavor of koolade you wanna drink and say fuck it. Bummer for a lot of young people as I see it is...there is no music, no poets, no ranting crazy people that yell the truth. Maybe thats not needed anymore. maybe twitter is the new singer,poet,wildman...I dunno. Doesn't matter though, if you've opened your eyes and seen some truth thats all you need. Get busy and find yourself.Have fun and grin a lot, it's a heluva trip if you do it right.
It is needed. We still have the music, poets, and crazy people of the past to look back at for inspiration, and there are some still around. I think that our generation is going to have a few bright lights in it...it's a wait and see, I guess. The advantage of our generation is that we have all the information and tools right at our fingertips. A facebook comment can reach hundreds, maybe thousands of people in a second... The disadvantage is the other side of that coin. There's now so much information and so much bullshit being thrown in your face when you turn on the computer or television. You have to wade through all of it to hit gold, and even then most people don't recognize it for what it is. I do see stuff slowly brewing though. More people my age are getting fed up...the next step is doing something about it. We need to get good and pissed off.

Yea isn't that the truth. This same morning I had my epiphany I turned on the tv and was shocked at how full of shit it was. There was literally nothing of value just shit meant to keep your mind in a numbly entertained state. It's the same with music. These days it's just auto-tuned repetitive catchy songs about partying. Anyways, I've always felt like I got this spirit that doesn't really match with society's crazy ways. I'm gonna hang on to it even if it makes me an outcast all the time or makes it harder to fit in. And if I ever put on that suit my job won't be business as usual. We have alot of great people in this country and alot of great ideas. They're just all being kept quiet while the loud bullshitters are shouting.

This generation doesnt really experience directly as much as they experience through screens. And it doesnt have the same effect at all. I could watch all the videos on world travels I want and google earth everything but unless I go and do the real thing it don't mean shit.
