Antipsychotics interrupt a trip, while Benzo's lower the anxiety - any truth to that?

Yes, I've heard this before and agree with the philosophy behind it. All I'm saying is I'm kinda afraid of psychedelics, but I've always been fascinated by them, and if I don't try em' I'll just keeping wondering what it's like. I dont know what they are going to do to me, and (like mentionned in the OP), this would be a very last resort.

Just knowing the fact that I can stop it will probably remove all need to stop it. I'm like that.

try taking some benzodiazepines- anxiolytics(alprazolam, diazepam, any short acting bzd),10mg/6hr PO ...whatever has gaba mimetic properties.... barbiturates are not as safe as they cause more respiratory depression...and also all of these drugs may help contol your anxiety but they may also lower your seizure threshold... so if you have epilepsy or history of seizures i dont recommend taking the....

typical antipyschotics are d2 antagonists so those may antagonize your high and atypical antipyschotics have NA antagonism as well 5ht(serotonin) antagonistic activity... and antiphyschotics have anticholinergic side effects(dry mouth, nasal congestion, postural hypotension, urinary retention, constipation)... as well as increasing your prolactin levels, and the famous movement disorders-bradykinesias, parkinsonism, dyskinesias... the more recent antipsychotics have been takin off the market because off insulin resistence......So stay away from the Antipsychotics.

    Om namak shivaya....BOOM SHANKAR!!!

Are you trying to tell me that atypical antipsychotics are now off the market? I doubt this is true...

Of course it is not true. In fact, my psychiatrist wrote me a fresh script for Zyprexa 7.5mg tablets this afternoon. Zyprexa is the epitome of an atypical antipsychotic.

Hmm, I definitely have mixed feelings about this topic. While I'm sure that it can be good to have a pharmacological safety net while you trip, I kinda feel like you shouldn't be tripping if you have enough fear to make the safety net necessary. So I'd say yes, keep them on hand, but don't keep your hand on the pill bottle throughout your trip. It would be better to just be in a comfortable, relaxed situation with people you trust who have tripped before (SET AND SETTING!) and preferably have a sober sitter to keep you calm should you freak out. That said, a low to moderate dose of LSD or shrooms probably won't send you spiraling into an abyss of terror. Unless of course you go into it worrying that you'll go spiraling into an abyss of terror! If in doubt, wait. You can always trip in a few weeks, months, years, or whenever you feel that you can handle the trip.
For example I spent quite a while not wanting to try LSD because I feared a bad trip (even though I've shroomed and smoked salvia several times, and experimented with other things), but recently I realized that I'm totally ready to take that step and intend to do so this summer.

Sorry if this was too off topic. Best of luck with your psychedelic exploration! :cheers2:

Trips gone wrong? If you honestly think you're going to flip a nut so hard you'll need to be tranqued why even bother?

^ that's exactly my feeling as well. If you need the comfort of the safety net, you are not ready to trip. You are hoping there is tripping with training wheels, but there isn't. This is the real shit now.

Honestly, I don't even think about using tranquilizers when I trip. I have access to both Zyprexa and a heaping pile of Klonopin (benzo), but haven't used them to "terminate" a trip yet. I use 2C-I to trip, so it doesn't last that long. I can make it a few hours if uncomfortable. And I am informed enough to take an appropriate dose that I know won't take me by surprise or anything.

OK. Tripping is scary to me. It always will be. I don't buy this ''if youre that scared you arent ready to trip'' stuff. I've never done it, I don't know what to expect, and I don't EVER foresee a time where I'm not going to be afraid.

This doesn't mean that I'm not fascinated by this stuff, and that I want to try it.

I know myself. I've had little freakouts in my sober life, and it's always going to be in the back of my mind. If I wait to have no fear to start this journey, it will never happen.

All that being said, Shivaya is most likely going to have his first psychedelic experience with 15-20 mg of 4 ACO DMT before the summer ends. I'm grieving a relationship right now (dont know whats going to happen with me and her, but thats besides the point) so i'm going to wait til' I'm in a better headspace, and once I feel strong, I'm going for it. Fear or no fear.
