got some buddies coming over... we might make two batches of some brownies. we've found that this was the best looking recipe to our abilities. they both have about 5 g's of some goooood shit :sunny: and they're planning on making two batches. does anyone have any tips for me? D: first timers, all of us! this is an oil recipe, not a butter recipe.
I use that same recipe when i make them. the last time I mad them they got really burnt. my sister's oven is broke. where it tells you the temp it dosen't work right
http://www.hipgallery.com/photopost2/data/500/700.jpg these ones turned out alot better. my sister had 1 and she was freaking out
Don't do it!!! That recipe is not very good. Using Vegetable oil will not only ruin 5 grams of weed but will cook the weed to hot. You need fat to absorb the THC, there is no fat in vegetable oil. Please use my method. Read the Offical Cooking with Marijuana thread in the Marijuana section here on hip. There is a link in my signature page. Use butter. If you already bought the box of brownies that calls for oil, after you use the double boiler method you can still use them. With 5 grams you can make 2 batchs of brownies but I really recomend using it on just one batch and then smoke a bowl.
Sorry Willy, I am going to restate my answer in greater detail. Also, feel free to look at the Cooking with Marijuana Thread. I believe I did go into this discussion but if not then here we go. Vegetable Oil fats are from the plant lipids and are not "fat solids" specifically,or the ones we really want. The best way to determine the Saturated fat content of a product we are looking for is if it will stay hard at room temprature. Vegetable oil which is the lowest of the fat contents usually comes from a combination of corn, safflower, sunflower and other such plants are low in Saturated or Monounsaturated fats that we needs such as from nuts. The Macadamia Nut is the best of those. A minor exception to this rule is Margarine or vegetable shortning those have been hydrogenated and as such will stay solid at room temprature but still do not contain the fat we are looking to use when getting the best from our marijuana. However, fat solds from animal fat are best because they really love the chemicals in weed. Hell, I have been tempted to try and see what bacon grease will do with weed. I am willing to bet that if I brought the bacon grease up to temprature with some kind bud it would be awsome. I may need to do this and bake it into some Iron Pan Corn Bread. Hummmm Bacon. I digress. There are onther things like looking at the smoke point of the oil. Oils with a lower smoke point will have a higher concentration of fat solids then something like vegetable oil that tends to be clear and will not even turn solid in a refrigerator. Willy I am really not trying to be a dick about this but I understand your line of thought. I am just saying it's not the best to use vegetable oil. Thanks
yeah, right?? ...it is great to wake up to a disaster sink full of horribly ruined pots & pans.. to cook so furiously that you murder your entire kitchen in the process...
I have never used butter before.I was always afraid I would end up wasting my weed or something. cause I don't know how to bake with butter. when they didn't turn out the last time. I was pissed. using the oil
Coconut is one of the best. I have to try Macadamia nut. However, my new goal right now with weed expermentation is going to be bacon fat. You have inspired me to try it.
Food science! Use the butter. You won't be disapointed. I recomend a sweet cream butter as the best option. Just follow the directions on the box. Just use a double boiler for the weed butter mix so you don't burn it and after straining put it right into the batter. Just use the amount it calls for on the box. If it asks for oil just use the strained butter.
so when I pick up a box. I want the one that calls for butter and not oil? I though all the brownies boxs at the store called for oil
You can use oil or butter or coconut oil. Don't use bacon grease! Oil is going to be the healthiest. Of course it's not just a matter of adding oil and straining it, it must be heated to a certain temp for awhile to extract the THC. Butter is a bit better, but you must watch over it, unless you use a double boiler. Let it simmer for at least half an hour, then strain. Yes, with oil you might get it too hot so watch it or use the double boiler. You can also use a crockpot if you're making a lot. Just substitute an equal amount of butter for oil. So if it says 1/4 cup of oil, that's equal to half a stick of butter. Preparing the cannabis for use in the recipe is by far the most important part. You don't want to waste it. Always strain it. And the most important thing about consuming it, is not to eat too much. Have one small piece and wait an hour at least before having more. If you really like brownies, and usually eat one or more big pieces, then lower the amount of cannabis being used so you don't do too much! Saying you're going to get 32 "doses" is unrealistic because ppl will eat more than 1/32nd a batch of brownies, believe me! There's also a recipe on the web for extracting THC into whole milk that removes the chlorophyll first, making the baked goods far tastier with no cannabis flavor. In that case you'd use the milk as a substitute for water in the recipe.
