I thought it was common sense where and in what company swearing is alright and where not. If you ignore this common sense or are completely ignorant for it, yes, it will most likely be considered thrashy.

It has its place as has been said. The person that was recently excised from our family after 10 years used fuck in every sentence. Sometimes it shows that a person has a limited vocabulary and will just throw cuss words in, thinking it makes their argument or point stronger, imo. yarapario has it.

That's not what it is for me. Those words have just become so ingrained in my vocabulary since early adolescence that they're pretty much like any other word. It's a pretty bad habit =[

Like it's already been said, there's a time and a place for everything, and if that bitch was just nosing into your conversation with your friend, then fuck her anyway. It's about high time that people start minding their own fucking business anyway.

Swearing, in my opinion, is best used in a humourous way, or when upset. When used in everyday, "normal" conversation it's kind of unnecessary.

Although, I say "fuck it" probably 5 times a day, sometimes more. It's one of my favorite lines and has become a staple on my list of appropriate reactions.

I believe that words are just words, even words that people deem are vulgar are only that way because we treat them that way. If someone does not like my language then I really could care less. I make sure to swear a fair amount everyday, just to flex my natural given right to do whatever the fuck I please whenever the fuck I please it.

Who cares if it is trashy?

A time and a place for everything. If you think the time is constantly and the place is everywhere then you very possibly are trashy.

a friend of mine is one of those people who cannot hold a conversation without swearing once in at least every sentence, and is also by nature a loud in your face type of bloke and for this reason he comes across as an ass. i hate going places with him its just embarrasing. time and a place.
i think this comes down to a lack of proper vocabulary, the speaker does not in his vocabulary contain a word for a certain feeling, so he compensates for or replaces that with the swear word. this kind of swearing i do find repulsive.

Swearing aka Cursing..lol. is not trashy or anything but what it is, cursing things or someone with cursewords. Some times it is not cool, like around older ladies or something, but it's part of regular every day speech and has been for centurys. Men would curse and drink and so on a 100 years ago when women were not around, but nowdays and in the past 30-40+ years using curse words has become common by women and men, so anyway, if you cannot talk to another person without saying fuck this or shit, etc.. every other word then you just may have a limited vocabulary or that may be the way you talk. There are times when cursing is in bad taste, like at a funeral, or something, but among people your age and similar types of variuos ages, when you are kicking back and talking, I personally curse like a sailor, but I can go without cursing,lol..me and the people I know of all ages use curse words as exlamation points or to spice up the conversation which would be really boring if we talked all proper like we are royalty or something...lol.

Sometimes I don't swear for weeks, sometimes I swear every other word.

I think censoring peoples thoughts is trashy, especially to the point of discouraging (or even arresting for, as porkstock, for one, can attest to) use of particular sounds. The idea of an illegal vibration in the air is on par with the war on drugs in "head up ass" factor.

All that said, there are SITUATIONS in which swearing is trashy, yes. Not being able to hold your tongue or choose the proper words is trashy. Knowing and feeling that you have the right to use them if you so desire is not trashy, and sometimes an out of place word can bring things down to earth, or bring needed contrast/dissidence to the table.

My mom would say it's trashy.

Is there any real way to quantify how educated you are based on your swearing? I could be the most educated person in the world, but only ever say fuck, and you would perceive it as uneducated? It is all subjective, considering yourself of a higher social standard because you dont swear is like considering yourself of a higher social standard because you dont have sex till your married. Do what comes naturally to you be it swearing or not, just dont think your better then anyone else because you have certain views. Believing your views on subjective things are better then another persons views on the same subjective thing, THAT is a mark of the uneducated.
