I recently read One Straw Revolution (free read from here) and I must say this is the best "gardening" book I have ever read. This is all about natural farming and how successful it can be. This is an older book and we see some of the techniques today, but rarely is the entire practice of striving to be as natural as possible promoted. I highly recommend anyone interested in growing anything read this book.
This book is superb. I gave my copy away to a close friend who has no interest in growing plants but likes literature and he loved it. Apparently that copy is still being passed around. If you like this book you might also enjoy watching the various videos on Sepp Holzer and/or reading his biography. Anything Bill Mollison too. I have a tumblr up that links a bunch of permaculture videos along these lines here if anyone's interested: http://naturalorder.tumblr.com/ There should even be 1 or 2 about Masanobu Fukuoka in there
Ive been reading through it this week when i have downtime at work. Thanks for the link, very interesting.
Thanks for the recommendation, I've been doing a bit of gardening recently, never done it before. I'm growing some tomato plants in a compost I made from leaves I gathered up last year. Started them a bit late, but they are growing so if we get a surprise heatwave (which is possible because we've not have one for 3 and a half years now in Scotland) who knows. One single tomato has appeared, so I've already made my first tomato from dead leaves. Often thought about buying one of the cheap books you get that are always on sale, but this sounds more interesting and informative. :cheers2:
The One Straw Revolution is written by Masanobu Fukuoka concerning his methods of natural farming which has been highly influential with various organic farming and growing natural food. Very useful for those who want to grow their vegetable gardening in an organic way.
