Yes. It was in the section where the blacks lived. Absolutely no hostility in the early 50s there. Before civil rights got going --until the lady Rosa Parks refused to go to the back of the bus in Montgomery,Alabama. I even went to small ,all black night clubs in Fresno with no problems except the girls wouldn't dance with me. Didn't blame 'em. I understood. PS: you did not call blacks ,black in those days ,unless you were partial to knuckle sandwiches. Pat Boone and others "cleaned up" a lot of songs back then for mainstream radio. I used to sit in my Gramma's car in the late 40s,early 50s and listen to gospel coming from LA--mighty XERB,I think. The preachers sounded like little Richard. I knew CHANGES were coming.
well the first 3 cassettes i bought were jagged lil pill - alanis morissette bathhouse betty - bette midler big willie style - will smith
The first vinyl I owned were my sister's hnd me downs... Faces, Kiss, Alice Cooper... mostly 70's stuff. When I was maybe 12 or 13 I joined one of those record club things. "12 albums for a penny." Cassettes were the shit then, so I had a lot of early 80's metal... Motley Crue, W.A.S.P., Iron Maiden, Ozzy and the like. I still have most of my cassettes in a pine box under the bed....
