Republican attack on Medical Marijuana fails in Montana

Gov. Brian Schweitzer vetoed a bill on Wednesday that would have repealed the state’s voter-approved medical marijuana law. Mr. Schweitzer, a Democrat, vetoed the Republican-backed measure along with several others he called “frivolous, unconstitutional or in direct contradiction to the expressed will of the people of Montana.”

Elections have consequences, and Republicans are (as a rule) assholes.

what's funny is that the reps here campaigned as being the party that would add jobs and help businesses grow

so they try to shut down a bunch of new [and growing] businesses right off the bat - not to mention broadening the tax base without hurting the millionaire ranchers like do-nothing denny rehberg [house rep]

my part of montana has zoned the dispensaries out of business as well, even before the current idiocy

probably the legions of bar/casino owners here were afraid people would light up and stay home

we need outright legalization, at the federal level, the "change" that was promised but not delivered

Ideally the best way to repeal the federal laws regarding Cannabis is this: Simply REMOVE THE WORDS stating the law. Leave growers for the dispensaries ALONE. Leave PERSONAL USE GROWERS ALONE. Leave tokers alone. USE the DEA and local cops [read that PIGS stomping your CIVIL RIGHTS!!!] to go after HEROIN CRACK METH and COCAINE. LEAVE we happy few brother and sister tokers the F ALONE!!!

 

Well now Wa bluska wica sure seems to have these characters pegged for the blowhards and liars that they are. I live in Washington state where as far as I know dispensaries are few and far between. As I understand the Medical Cannabis Law a patient can have up to 24 ounces of medicine (MJ) and that is supposed to be a 60 day supply. That works out to about 1 and a half ounces for 4 days. Is there anyone here or ANYWHERE that could smoke 10.5 grams of cannabis PER DAY and maintain (or be standing up NOT PASSED OUT??!!?) I could not do that and I have smoked the herb since around 1970-1971.

In my state patients are allowed to have 15 plants. Whether they are 6" starters or 4 feet tall and bushy or just germinated in a wet paper towel you better not have 16. Because if the MJ police come to your grow and you are found out it is a $250 fine and they leave with a plant. This happened to a friend of mine and that's how I know.

As far as outright legalization goes this would make a fine start.

Legalize HEMP for American farmers. Hemp is marijuana's INDUSTRIAL cousin. Importation of Hemp is allowed here in America. But due to archaic laws based in part on LIES, FALSEHOODS and downright RACISM Hemp and Cannabis is illegal to grow or possess except in limited circumstances like in the Medical Marijuana states.

Once again Hemp could be the next cash crop for America. Three or four harvests per year per acre. Hemp can be made into clothing that is SUPERIOR TO COTTON!! Hemp DOES NOT NEED the pesticides and toxic fertilizers that COTTON REQUIRES!!! Hemp is such a Godsend for it's many varied uses in everyday life. From FUEL to FOOD to paints, solvents and stains. Plastics, INSULATION and BUILDING MATERIALS such as Hempcrete which is lighter and stronger than concrete can be made from Hemp. In Europe Hempcrete is being utilized to build homes, sheds and barns. But NOT in ass backwards America!! We CAN save this country people from becoming a third world shithole. But relying on Obama ain't gonna make it happen. The ONLY change we're gonna see from that flake is more bullshit, and more lies or propaganda.

I firmly believe with all of my soul that if we were to make Hemp a legal cash crop America could in 10 years or less get off the OPEC TIT and become ENERGY SELF SUFFICIENT. We could tell IRAQ, LIBYA, KUWAIT and all other mid east countries to GO SUCK AN EGG (or like that movie GI JANE. . .SUCK MY STICK!!!) The Petro-Chemical companies in America could either learn to go with the NEW FLOW [HEMP] or go the way of the logging industry that was ambushed by the environmental movement the past 20 years.
