I have been on some SSRIs by the psycologist and i have been taking them for two years now. Paroxetine CR 12.5mg tablets, two per day for two years.

I feel as if this has caused my penis to be numb upon erection and get less of a hard on as compaired to the time before i ever used these meds.
Can this medicine be the reason for the lack of sexual interest and libido changes? Someone shed some light on this please.
Is there any way to reverse this change?

Its probably the paroxetine. Its a common side effect for paxil and many other antidepressants.

Not to get into conspiracy theories here, but its interesting to me that losing libido is such a common side effect. The libido is the ultimate square root of life. Its where it all begins. I won't go into my opinion about that but others can draw their own conclusion.

Back on topic, you should talk to the doctor. I think losing your libido should be an unacceptable side effect. You should try different medications until you find one that doesn't effect you like that.

What a weird conundrum. I think if I lost my libido it would lead to depression. Then take a drug to fight the depression. Then lose your libido and get depressed.

Paid a visit to my doctor and he says it has nothing to do with the paxil.
Wasnt satisfied and checked out with another psycologist and he confirmed the side effect of paroxitine to decrease libido.

On another note, reading the posts above i would say that loosing your libido shouldnt get you depressed to actually make you goto the doctor and get yourself some antidepressants. There are fruits and different food to help you improve your libido over time plus there are a few medicines which help you boot it.

There are plenty of over the counter supplements that help with libido. Look into taking that helps with testosterone levels. Low test levels can cause depression and lack of libido.

I guess now that you know the meds DO affect your libido, the next question would be whether this side-effect is worth switching meds.... are the meds working ok for you? Maybe there are other ways (like the fruit idea) to increase your libido. Some people say that having lots of sex naturally increases your libido

Why do teenagers kill themselves rather than face a life of no libido on antidepressants?" The medical profession has really screwed up on this. They prescribe without warning the patient of the consequences. In answer to the original question, YES antidepressants of ALL kinds screw with your masturbation, sex and self worth. Beware from age 13 to 89!

It's not only Anti-Depressants, but any neural medication, such as, in my own experience, for epilepsy. The same applies to most Beta Blockers, used for Cardiac complaints.
