I think it was decriminalized for a few months during Jimmy Carter's presidency. Maybe it was something else but I think this is what I heard.
Everything was legal till around 1914 or something when opiates and cocaine were prohibited. Marijuana followed in 1937. (these are federal law dates, individual states were outlawing marijuana, and probably opiates and cocaine, previous to the federal ban). And although it's illegal in India, it's not really enforced because it is to their culture what beer is to ours. It's widely grown and used. I don't know about other countries though. There are probably a lot that have it illegal but not as harshly as the USA. Yes, it would still be fun smoking it. Think of how much less paranoia there'd be. I mean, that may just be part of the weed experience, but I bet it would be a lot less. We could smoke without fear, it'd be truly relaxing because there wouldn't be that fear of incarceration floating around at the back of your head.
probably no... The last place, which made it to an illict drug, was Cambodia, there it was never illegal before. Even in A'dam it's not 100% legal. In Cambodia you can get 1kg of mary warner for ca.20 $, my uncle said that, after visiting us comming back from cambodia!
You need to watch the movie "GRASS". It tells all about marijuana's history in the states. The main reason it was outlawed is that some stupid ass politician started claiming the whole "Gateway Drug" thing and heroin was a big problem in the states and everyone new it. So He calimed that people who smoked pot would then get addicted to heroin. It showed awareness videos that were actualy put out by the government of people killing people because they went crazy while under the influence of marijuana. It showed another video were kids hurt themselves purposely and stuff. Yes marijuana was brought in by mexicans and it shows them unloading 6,000 pounds of it from a ship. Jimmy Carter was pro marijuana during his campaign but his brother was caught DUI so he had to drop that whole thing because he thought people would assume he only said this because he was "Addicted" to it and so was his brother. At one time the law in the states was that you couldn't be arrested or punished by the governement for personal possesion and use, and that they were only tryin to arrest dealers, which is kinda dumb. But records showed that 78% of the people arrested the year this law was inplace were arrested with less than an ounce on them which means they definately weren't dealers. Yea you should pick up the movie.
