U.S. Indoor Marijuana Production Uses 1% of Total Electricity

    While it's not surprising that US indoor cannabis growing uses a lot of electricity, 1% of all US electric demand, it's sad that so much growing must be done indoors at all. If cannabis were legal, most of these grows could be done outdoors, saving enormous amounts of energy.

    This article points out how big the carbon footprint of US grown marijuana actually is, costing growers up to $5 billion a year.

    Interesting article for sure. But as the article suggests, I hope the study is not used for evil.

    i agree its sad
    however in canada growing cnbs without lights is next to impossible
    northern countries would have to import
    the transportation would create a footprint

    Agreed! On the contrary ... I do believe that : "The Marijuana industry needs to be ECO conscious and get GREENER"

    not only would we save energy, but we would create energy, in so many different ways.

    One could build an argument using the idea that we need to legalize in order to reduce the carbon foot print. When its legalized there will be advancements in the grow equipment that will be energy saving.
