i've been thinking about two movies lately, the 400 blows [which is a classic and doesn't belong in this thread] and phase iv, a 70s sci-fi movie about intelligent ants [that does belong here] not sure if i'd like it as much now as when i was young though, it's been 30 years or more . . .
watched some crazy Elvira horror flick last night- staring the metal mouth dude from the James Bond movie.... he was some kinda giant - Neanderthal kinda dude jumping in front of cars driven by ladies/ making them scream. lol.
The movie 'KingPin'. I loved that movie. I had it on VHS. It was funny, gross, weird and had a great cast. It was a great film.
Everyone likes 400 blows. I thought there was something wrong with me for not liking it that much. It's pretty self-indulgent, being essentially an autobiographical glorification of the filmmaker's early life.
My favorites are probably all in Kindergarten Cop :afro: "You mean you eat other people's lunches?" "Stop whining! You kids are soft. You lack discipline." "There is no bathroom!"
Someone already mentioned Dune Memento is another one that springs to mind, I loved it, but everyone else seems to think its too much of a head fuck One Fine Day is a guilty pleasure, a rom com where they dont even kiss at the end, Clooney and Pfiefer. That scene at the bottom of the escalator when he comes up to her and whispers "I know your name Mel" would set my ovaries into overdrive if I had a pair. Oi Vey
I had mixed feelings on it. It seems too gimmicky at first, and the gimmick really is a bit overused in the beginning (maybe the disease is getting progressively worse, but still) and that makes it very disorienting. As the film goes on it gets better and better though; and once it brings in the philosophy, it really vindicates the story completely.
