    I understand the desire to get rid of Harper...

    But I gotta say the strategic voting thing is starting to irk me. Because of strategic decisions, I no longer have a choice to vote for the party I want. Because the candidate for that party in my riding say 'nope, not running for strategic reasons, pls vote Liberal'

    Fuck you, for taking my choice away.

    You have a choice... You can vote as you want. The information provide here is for those who wish to make a choice based on getting the desired result of getting rid of harper.

    If you don't wish to do that, that is your choice...

    So fuck you for not being able to grasp such a simple concept. (to return your own back to you)

    I'm sorry, did you take my 'fuck you' as personal? Not sure why, I didn't quote you or anything. It was directed at the candidate that pulled his party from our riding. Sort of a general thing.

    I cannot vote for the party I want to vote for, because they are not on my ballot. How is -that- not easy to grasp.

    Not getting were the attitude is coming from. We've all been playing nice, which is pretty sweet for a political thread. Or am I just not allowed to express contention regarding strategic voting or Liberals, without getting douched on?

    As I am the one who is pushing strategic voting for all I'm worth here as well as a few other threads, and you did not specify you were talking about a candidate, yes, I did take it as personal as it seemed to be directed at strategic voting and those who support it.

    Oh and I got that impression from this part;

    Maybe if I take the first bit out, it maybe seem clearer.

    Sorry for the confusion. But yes, I'm irked. This candidate has indeed taken away my choice to vote for that party.

    I'm a fan of the greens, but when Dion pulled the Liberals from Lizzy's riding last time, I didn't like that either. It was like a big FU to all the Liberals of that riding.

    It's all a symptom of a very broken electoral system. We shouldn't have to be acting this way. And I think it's valid for me to be upset about it.

    I totally agree that parties shouldn't pull candidates... In fact, I will go you one further on that notion and say that any party that doesn't run a candidate in at least 300 out of the 308 ridings, doesn't get federal recognition and any that do, automatically get it (regardless of seats).

    The reason I don't say 100% is that there has to be leeway for not being able to find a suitable candidate in time for elections.

    Accordign to the national polls, the NDP are now the second choice ahead of the Liberals with 24% to their 21%.

    [IMG]

    However, that may not change the seat count for them.

    Okay... I kept digging...

    http://www.electionalmanac.com/canada/projections.php

    According to that, the change in support from the liberals to the NDP has DRASTICALLY changed the seat projection... not in a good way.

    Before the new polls the seat projection was;
    Cons 146
    Lib 72
    NDP 54
    Bloc 36

    Now....
    Cons 181 (majority is 155)
    Lib 47
    NDP 49
    Bloc 31

    Here's an interesting article;

    http://themace.ca/?p=209

    Out of all the actual possibilities of what could happen in this election, I could be quite happy with this.

    So, thoughts? Prime Minister Layton?

    I'd love a Prime Minister Layton. Not necessarily because I agree with his entire platform, though I do like a lot of it, but because I badly want change. I want to see what the NDP could do for us. We know what the Liberals can do, we know what the Cons will do, we've seen it time and time again. As far as I'm concerned they have nothing new to offer Canada, nothing that will change the game.

    I'd also be more than fine with a coalition. A conservative government will take the country in a direction I desperately do not want it to go. A liberal government will not change much (they never do). I would like to see what an NDP government would do. It can't be any worse than what those mentioned would do.

    I think it's time to exercise our options and try something new for a change. If it doesn't work, we can fix it, but if it does; we need to find out.
