Is reagent grade lye safe to use in an extraction? Or could there be contaminants in it? It is from Flinn Scientific. It looks like a bunch of white pellets. It was kinda liquidy but im guessing thats just from absorbing water, it wasn't stored the best(not airtight). Thanks!

If they are pellets it's most probably NaOH in pure salt form. You can use them aswell, but be sure to add them to water, and not water to pellets. It will react with water violently and emit alot of heat so be carefull!
