    well, yeah, but...

I wonder about the karma of this... those people felt really good about helping, and the money prolly went to good use?

    jobs are kind of evil...

I'm not against hard work at all... but meh...

Yeah it's called spanging fool! So you're asking someone for their spare change... it's not like you're stealing from someone. They have all the right in the world to tell you to fuck off, but if they don't need it and don't mind helping a kid out, then what's so wrong with it? As long as you aren't abrasive and keep a sense of humility. I've done this alot when I've been traveling either hungry or needin' a beer.

I'll tell you what's wrong with this, you are potentially hurting those on the streets who REALLY need help. What if someone who was really down on their luck asked for change 2 minutes after people gave it to you?

"Sorry, I already gave my change to another guy up the street".

What if you are negatively affecting pedestrian attitudes toward beggars without even realizing it.

"Another one... that's it, I'm fucking sick of these bums. They're never getting another cent from me again".

I agree that it's generally bad form to spell out a lie to panhandle but if his age isn't a lie he was just a kid

In general I don't see any problem with people asking for money

a person could hurt my body parts on the street and that might offend my delicate sensibilities but panhandling doesn't hurt my feelings at all

if you're going to start talking about why you need money you'd better be prepared for me to walk right past you if I will

Congratulations, you are making people more cautious about giving to people on the street who may be genuinely homeless or in need. Clever shit.

If I ever caught you doing that shit, you're damn right someone would have stolen your wallet and shoes. I would have. The part you forgot was about being beaten senseless;)

This shits why I no longer give money to beggers, even if they look like they need it. I feel bad that some do, but there's also plenty like you. (this, and the fact that even the legit beggers just want alcohol)

Go into politics. They lie and play on the sympathy of the public all the time.

I think it's cool to ask for money if you really are in a a compromised situation, such as a robbery, breakdown, or even just hitching from town to town, but if you are just using people for something you don't need then you are wasting their money and time when they could may well have used that money to help someone else in a real problem, on those grounds I think it's fucked up. I think if you have enough time to panhandle for dime bags and six packs added to the time smoking and drinking beer you could look for a job. we all do stupid shit though, so nice confession.
