    Hi Guys
I'm new on this forum and have spent some time looking around in the psychedelic music area...
I don't see too much talk on more recent electronic artists like OTT, Shpongle, Infected Mushroom and so on.
I love all sorts of psychedelic music including older stuff (in particular Hawkwind, Amon Duul, some Floyd).
I was just wondering on peoples views on this.
The newer stuff is more accessible (and perhaps more trivial in some ways) but in terms of music that is psychedelic it certainly hits the spot and then some...
    Interested in your views.
    All the best:sultan:

psychedelic is psychedelic, it doesn't matter how you get there

plenty of bands back in the day used electronics; the 3 you mentioned, some others even more so

i like the older musics because they made mistakes; new music all seems so carefully chosen to me . . .

Shpongle and Infected Mushroom are discussed frequently here on this site, usually more in the electronic music section.

I like all 3 of the artists you mentioned and I enjoy the psybient Shpongle sound (Shulman, Entheogenic are other notable artists)

Alot of the high bpm psytrance I'm indifferent to, its great live and when I'm in a particular mood/tripping but I don't find it as interesting as the psybient sound for casual listening.

I usually try to stay away from electronic psychedelic music. It's usually too upbeat for me. It makes it harder for me to get "out there".

I prefer organic psychedelic music, like "Dark Star" by the Dead.

Wow, I was totally thinking in the wrong direction.
I like electronic psychedelic music, just not really upbeat stuff.

I really enjoy the possibilities put forth by electronic music. All the various layers and textures and soundscapes made possible are really just amazing while in a psych experience.

As far as Infected Mushroom type shit goes, yeah it's cool but I don't necessarily think it's psychedelic at all. Psychedelia to me invokes a dreamy, mind expanding, whimsical sort of vibe or invokes a darker spacier vibe, but Psytrance to me makes me think of hypnotic tribal, animalistic vibes, which could be considered psychedelic but in a different way I guess :p

Probably some MV & EE stuff or other freak folk acts. Obviously, you can't get around an electrical recording device, but there are plenty of acoustic psychedelic songs to be found! Acid Mothers Temple collective (I guess you could call it) put out a 2 or 3 disc set of "Friends of AMT" (or something) which has lots of acoustic psyche on it. The noisy quality of f of field recording goes a long way to give a nice psychedelic sheen. :)
EDIT: Actually, electric and electronic are different, so of course there's a lot more psychedelic music to fall under "analog" (even currently, thank 7-11). One I was listening to this morning that is fffffffucking awesome is Kawabata Makoto's "Hot Rattlesnakes" http://www.amazon.com/Rattlesnakes-Kawabata-Makoto-Mothers-Ofinvasion/dp/B000GPPPXG

Agree. I think the new electronic generation is making music that sounds cool on their weird synthetic drug replacements.

I am more into older psychedelic band because they put words to their music, but I do enjoy listening to Shpongle, mostly because Raja Ram was in one of my favorite bands from the sixties, Quintessence. that guy has amazing flutde skills!

Sure, the etymological meaning of "psychedelic" spaces out very, very much:afro:....if it makes me shine up, wanna have sex with my woman, give me the good vibes all over..well, it's psychedelic, man:)
