So, this is the modern trend: You're middle school or high school aged son or daughter decides that when YOU go to work, they are going to ditch school...then "Big Brother" drags you to court and sends you to jail.
This is complete BS! When I was younger and skipped school, my parents usually never had any clue, they had jobs and were long gone before my bus even arrived in my neighborhood. It wasn't their fault, it was my decision, right or wrong. Back then, the schools dealt with the kids (that skipped) not the parents. Suspension, detention, Saturday school, I seen it all, and when my parents caught wind of what was going on, they punished me too. But the government stepping in and sending folks to jail because their kid skips is a bunch of shit!

How about we send teachers to jail if their students skip class?...Let's say if little jenny skips Gelology 10 times in one year, then Mr Geology teacher spends his precious summer off in the county lock up! Or let's say if the school has a high truancy rate, they suspend the principal's PAYCHECK! Let's be fair...if they want to hold someone responsible for the actions of an unruly teenager, let it be themselves!

Do you have any links to give credibility to this claim?

I don't have any links, but they do that here. The student gets in disciplinary trouble with the school and the parents get in legal trouble, it happened all the time to kids I went to school with. A lack of respect for your parents..

When was the last time someone went to jail because their kid took a day off?
My parents never went to jail, and trust me, I know a thing or two about skipping school.

    I know, man.

I'm sorry, I don't really know how to post stuff from one site to another, but yeah, this happens, and it's BS. I mean if you have let's say a 16 year old and they decide that they are too cool for school, the courts can charge and jail you. Regardless if you are at work, or if you physically take them to schol and walk them in and then they walk out....it's still YOUR fault!

I'm not saying you made it up man. It's just that you posted a claim. Usually when someone claims something they post evidence to back it up so that people know they're not just full of shit.

I'm not at all saying you're full of shit, but for the time being I have nothing else to conclude, except to take your word for it.

One wouldn't post a news story without an article to back it up. I wouldn't claim that santa claus existed without some evidence.

So you force children to sit in a room all day and have basic limited statistics absent of any culture or meaning pumped into their minds and they decide to leave.. And now there parents who are being forced to send the kids there go to jail for this?..What in gods name is fucking wrong with humans?!?!

Go to the website where you read this story, copy the address in the address bar at the top (http:www.hipforums.com) for example) and then copy and paste that link into your first post.

Well thanks, Lunar!! I still do not feel like doing all that. If you don't believe me, then look it up. I mean you have over 11,000 posts on this board ALONE, so obviously, you are way more computer savvy than I, so I am sure you know how to use Yahoo.

"Many states also hold parents accountable for their children's truancy, and Arizona was the first state to implement such laws. The rationale behind this movement was to coerce parents into taking an active role in their children's education and for all parties to take truancy laws and school attendance seriously. In Virginia, parents can be fined and jailed for failure to adequately supervise school-aged children, which includes making sure they are attending school. In Pennsylvania, parents can also be fined and jailed if they have not taken reasonable steps to ensure their child is attending school. In Texas and many other states, similar laws have recently been passed."

    Thanks, wyldwynd...

And there isn't a "link" to the Yahoo story, or, one I could find...but it's from Baltimore

I think it's really sick the way things are run these days. And parents get the fall if there kid rebels.. and all kids do. It's just messed up. And when you have a baby they inspect your house to make sure it's good enough. Why can't these people just fuck off.

Im thankful they take parents to jail. least I know my taxes are doing something. And there are enough dumb fuckers like myself that if they didnt stay in school, finally get a GEd with more limited options you either become an inmate or a killing machine in the service= where else are you going to get job skills?.. jobs are limited today.. What I dont understand is how comes there no class in high school to learn how to run a cash register in family dollar?

you need to have those itsy bitsy peices of paper, that say youre qualified enough to take shit and do shit.. thats life...
