My first 'issue' and unsurprisingly it came at Tesco (well known for their anti-barefoot stance in the UK), where a security bloke stopped me on the way out and asked 'where are your shoes ?'. I said I didn't have any on me. He said I had to wear shoes if I wanted to shop there again. Despite me pointing out I'd been barefoot in the store every 2 or 3 days since it had opened in December, he countered with 'everyone else is wearing shoes'. As I was on my way out I really couldn't be bothered with a discussion (which probably would have started 'I refer you to my previous comment') and countered with a very lazy 'whatever', closed the lift doors and exited stage downwards.

I accept he was probably only acting on instructions but I'll be better prepared next time. And probably have to take flip-flops. Bah. The only shop I have encountered any problems with.

Im trying to avoid tesco for those very reasons. Ive been absolutely fine in morrisons and the co-op, employees didnt seem to care, I guess 90% of the time there wont be any problems but occasionally there may be, I can live with that.

I went to a pharmacy yesterday after work, picking up some painkillers, and since there were people queueing up at the different checkouts, my bare feet were quite visible to all other customers as well as the saleswomen in heir white smocks. On opening another checkout to serve the people waiting in line, one of those employees came up to where I stood, smiled and said "We have another checkout open, so you don't have to wait that long". Nothing said about bare feet, even though she did glance down at them. I went to that checkout, got my pills and padded out of the place, unhassled and happily barefoot, as usual.

    Wiggling bare toes,

Wine shop, news stand, deli, CVS (complete with their nsnsns sign) and voted in the local school election. First time I voted barefoot I admit. No issues anywhere.

Took my shoes off as soon as I left work, and stopped at a local park to take a stroll. Walked around a bit, then used the restroom (yes, barefoot) and drove to my storage unit to check on a couple things. The floors there are really dirty, so my feet got nice and black. Then I stopped at the post office to get my mail, and went to Trader Joe's for a few things. An awesome barefoot afternoon!

Barefoot all day, started with a walk around town, hit the video store, tesco, waterstones, hmv, and the cinema. Still new at bare footing, so was a little unsure what to do about the toilets. Just held it

I joined a guided walk around Hull's old town (which is very old) to see if i could learn anything new. the other walkers thought it was quite cool of me to go barefoot.
The walk was about three miles, but as i walked there and back from home, it totalled about seven.

10 mile round-trip to a nearby park and back again, about half over paved trail, the other half over mud-soaked hiking trail because it had just rained for some 12 hours straight. Fortunately there was enough high-speed flooding from the streams to periodically wash it all off.

The supermarket and a gas station. 12 degrees outside, great for a bare foot, no shirt, and my crutches. The contast of the cold ground outside on my bare foot and chest and the the warmth of the heated supermarket was great. Autumn is great for bare foot walking, and the ongoing need for crutches means walking is a bit of a work-out so it is always warm enough to take my shirt off as well.

Spent the morning at work with bare feet in the office. It's nice and liberating on a Sunday when there are just 4 of us in the building!

Took a long walk, it was raining, so what few people I walked by paid more attention to my feet than normal. Came back into town, hit the shops and relaxed.

together with a few friends of mine we spent most of the day by a torrent, enjoying the hot sunny day, messy guitar playing, wine and the rest. later a family with children came by, and the lads obviously wanted to toss shoes and go playing in the water but they were parentally prevented because of "dirt" and over the powerful argument that "this is not the sea" , at which the boy started complaining that there were footprints of bare feet everywhere around in the mud (mine, i left them on purpose just to cause this... kids are keen observers) . the boys started freaking out. at this point i decided it was just time to set an example, came out of post dinner lethargy and showed up, rolled up my pants just enough and crossed the bed of round stones and the shallow water to the mud and stones of the other bank. while i disappeared in the paths running along the twisted loops of the stream and into the woods, the boys hollered again, to no effect. later on , roughly half an hour, i crossed back and the boys were still there, beaten, sitting by the left bank and shod, looking at me with defeat in their eyes :( . too bad but at least i tried...

Everywhere As Usual, But I Had A Very Nice Conversation With A Lady Whilst Waiting

In The Chemist For A Script To Be Filled.

She Said She Had Seen Me Around Town Barefoot And Had Been Trying To Catch Up

    With Me For A Chat...:).

Seems Her Daughter Despises Shoes And Goes Barefoot Everywhere She Can.

Her Main Concern Was How Tough She Should Let Her Kids Soles Become, And Her

    Other Concern Was Chillblains.

I Explained Everything To Her, But Forgot To Ask How Old The Daughter Was.

She Was A Lovely Lady And As I Got Up To Leave She Said "It Has

    Been A Pleasure Meeting You"..:).

Here's Hoping I Run Into Her With Her Daughter Sometime In The Future...:).

    Cheers Glen.

A nice long weekend here in UK because of the royal wedding so been barefoot since last friday with the exception of a family night out (wore flip flops to keep wife happy but this was for about 2 minutes and I kicked them off again - she didn't notice). Spent most of the day in town, various shops, and sandwich bar for lunch - got very black soles from the car park....unfortunately back to a suit and tie tomorrow...grrrrrrr

Bah, got nobbled by one of the Directors at work who subtly advised me company policy does not allow the wearing of flip-flops (can only be barefoot when sitting at desk) so had to go to a shoe shop today (barefoot of course) to buy some nice sandals. Sales asst was laughing with me when I said I was only buying sandals because I wasn't allowed flip-flops and she agreed it was 'health and safety gone mad' - she said that in her shop they're not allowed to wear flip-flops but it's okay to wear stilettos - go figure. She also applauded me on my bare feet saying it must have been very odd for me to have to buy shoes (it was !). She bagged them up for me and didn't insult my intelligence by asking if I wanted to wear the sandals straight away ;)
