White House releases Obama's Birth Certificate

Even amongst you fine, intelligient, and free-thinking individuals of hipforums, I've noticed a few of you believe the myth that Obama is not a United States citizen. I guess they finally got sick of hearing about this rumor and released the birth certificate (although I thought it had been released a while ago because I viewed it online through the White House website months ago)...

i watched this live on nbc,, it was all of six minutes.. this is the long form birth certificate that goes into more detail about his parents

 

I feel like they should've done this right away or not at all.

Shows that the administration bows to pressure.

Two years in, and I have to say that our president has been a disappointment in many ways. Pandering to these goddamned wingnuts, after ALL this time doesn't look very commander-in-chief of him.

Check the right-wing blogs and they're saying they want his college transcripts now. I thought the issue was to prove his citizenship, not pick apart his entire fucking life.

I think that it is xenophobia rather than racism. If both his parents were citizens of sweden, and he was born in hawaii, he would legally be entitled to be a us citizen, but they would still be asking for his birth certificate

I think it's just a typical republican tactic to take a non-issue and try to turn it into an issue. this is just the form that the attack has taken

I think that trumps whole candidacy is a conspiracy to try to make sarah palin look like a serious candidate by contrast

 

he already released the short version when he was elected two years ago. the short version of john mccain's certificate was sufficient enough for the political world. why is obama's not? because republicans are racist and donald trump needs ratings.

 

I think that there actually was a jab taken at mccain's citizenship, but I don't think it was by the obama campaign. I think someone questioned (never seriously, I think) that he was an american because he was born outside the us (he was born on a military base and had two american parents, so there was never really a question).

mccain's citizenship is not now in question because he's not a candidate for president, and no one sees any political traction in attacking him.

while republicans may be racist, I don't think that the presidential candidates do things just for the sake of being racist. rather, I think that they do things that they think will give them political advantage, and if that something is racist, they are willing to do it. we'll probably see a rehashing of reciting obama's full name in an effort to tie him to terrorism

the video of rev. wright at trinity church was probably released by the hillary clinton campaign as they became increasingly desperate. I think her campaign disclaimed involvement in the release of the tapes, yet they were not reluctant to make insinuations that obama was less patriotic

so I think that the core issue is that the republicans are willing to play dirty rather than that they are racist. there are certainly some dem's that will play dirty too (hillary), but I think obama did a pretty good job of keeping it clean

I think that trump has some counter attack coming though. I think that someone should confront him shouting "that's not your real hair!!!!!!!!!"

 

His speech on in was a pretty eloquent fuck you to the press.

I like how releasing the long form and that Trump roast of a dinner was just a teaser while the guy was out ordering a secret mission to capture/kill Bin Laden in Pakistan.

I don't think anybody's going to pay attention to Trump again, and I'll assume this was all a stunt to get his TV contract renewed.
