if anything in the 1970's proved to me how stupid herd mentality is, it was the pet rock fad. back in high school, in the mid 1970's, everyone who was dumb enough to spend 20 bucks on a pet rock was considered "cool." :ack2: everyone though i was batshit crazy because i never bought a pet rock. my thought patterns on pet rocks were, "why in the hell, would i be dumb enough to throw away 20 bucks on an every day, ordnary fucking rock?" "i could just walk to the creek bed, pick up a rock, scrub it down with a stiff brush and some detergent, dry it, spray paint it with gold paint; and all it would cost me is about 40 minutes of my time at most!" anyhow, to me, rocks make piss poor pets to my way of thinking. i would rather have a cat, dog, rabbit etc. as a pet anyday... they make great "pets" hands down! :2thumbsup:
Yeah, I agree--as far as pets go, I'd rather have cats and dogs--at least you can do something with them! I was too little back then to get into the pet rock fad, but I'm sure a lot of older kids and adults did--and, like you, I don't know why either--but people have been known to do some very silly things! LOL
A few years ago I went opp (thrift) shopping and came across a little cool little rock knick-knack. It's about a dozen small colorful rock's sitting on a larger grey flat rock and theres a little sign that say's "r-ck concert" so adorable. :2thumbsup: This is what it look's like:
I completely thought pet rocks were only jokes, as well. Seriously? No way. LOL That really cracks me up. Also, I'm feelin' the rock concert! Bahaha.
