I have a nice running 1970 VW Bus.
They were know to be hippie cars and I want mine to be a little more Earth friendly.

So let's pretend I have infinite money to put into this thing to make it the best earth loving car it can be. And I don't want any other car in the world. I am not to great with cars, so that is why I am posting this.

Use algae to produce your fuel for your car. It emits zero CO2 and these microorganisms actually take up CO2 from the environment and reduce the level in the atmosphere

I know now. This was the Chevron commercial. The product still burns carbon to me.

go electric! cover the roof of your house with solar panels! and maybe you can drive once a week...to get groceries, lol

if you took all the seats out, and removed large portions of the steel with carbon fibre you might get more range?

or you could get a modern diesel engine, and run it of grease :D

There are electric conversion kits sold at various sites on the net. Do a search and you might find what you're looking for. These aren't usually the simplest tasks but, if you are intent on being greener than green, this would be an option. Of course, if you don't like the idea of charging up your van from a power grid tied to coal fired plants, you would have to purchase a solar kit of some kind to give the ol' VW some "go juice".

A mechanic down the street from me here in Springfield is converting cars to hydrogen successfully for about 700 bucks. Water for fuel sounds good to me.

Where are people buying hydrogen from? Also how is he making these cars safe with extremely explosive pressurized gas?
