The problem with government is that too many semi-literate halfwits can be elected by an unsuspecting public. Isn't it time that politicians had to prove their academic qualifications before a court of law before they can take office
And only people who reach the academic standard of a professorship can apply for office

if they're going to have one at all they should at least be able to write their own speeches.

They do, they simply manipulate the 'halfwits' below them. The President is a puppet post, has been sense the death of JFK, and the Mega Corporations and (even more frightening) the banking really rule. The question is should the people run the government or should the government run the people. And that's the battle the USA has being fighting with itself from day one.

I'll side with the people running their governments, if you know what I mean.

depends on which so called intelligencia you're talking about. they may be something of a mythical beast. or have other more interesting things they'd rather be doing then running a government.

and it isn't the people we elect who are actually running anything anyway. its the economic interests that have usurped their authority to do so.

sure the politicians have to vote and sign off on things, but the issues are far too complex for any one mere human to make the best sense of. this is why they turn to staffs of political interns, who then turn to the cheerfully offered advice of lobbyists.

thus we have government of the dollar, by the dollar and for the dollar, that no longer represents nor protects anything human at all, but only these automatic mechanisms, albeit composed of human beings, but automatic mechanisms that have more power over humans then humans have any sort of real control of them, none the less. that have one hard wired in directive that takes precidence over all else, and that is to concentrate symbolic value at the expense of all else.

the bussiness of bussinss is monkey bussiness, not something that can ever be trusted to be in the interests of real people, places or even things.

i disagree with electing a person to pull the shots, but if i had to follow the system, i would pick a farmer with collegiate education in social studies and engineering.
