Portraits

    I took a workshop on Saturday. It was presented by a really good portrait artist, and she had us try our hand. Here is what I did (it's my grand daughter - not a perfect likeness, but not bad). I broke out of my landscape artist mode.

    looks creepy lol
    portaits are definitely something very difficult to pull off though, i know what you mean. takes lots of practice and study.
    hint for next time: don't paint the nostrils, paint simply the shadow of the nose. unless that is what you're aiming for.
    love your style though, its fantastic, very hipster/indie/animalcollective-esque.

    Thanks, Bogus. I think it's creepy because of the eyes. They're a bit bulging, which is not the way she looks. Eyes are really hard.

    i like it for sure. cute pumpkins. we dont need perfect portraits anymore... we have cameras ;) with its own unique style, makes it more interesting
