sounds like a government employee...but you worked a lot more than most did you at least keep the coffee receipt to get reimbursed?
lol dude..you didnt have to edit..it wasnt offensive to me (maybe to you sorry) it was just a government employee joke...dont take things so serious
this might have been an interesting topic. i really don't understand where everybody gets these jobs where they make all kinds of money to do nothing. well, yes i do. you have to know somebody.
I want a job like that.. My work study job here at college was kinda like that, but then I got in trouble for doing nothing.
I know we both work in very similar environments, so I have to ask, you really don't have the assholes who seem to somehow get away with doing absolutely nothing no matter what?
To safeguard against fires, they province has to have a certain number of people trained (in fire suppression, first aid, chain saw safety, helicopter hover exits, incident command, blah blah blah). They have to have us prepped for the "worst case scenario". It isn't the worst case scenario right - it is a wet and cold spring with few fires. We're spending our down time doing prep and training and PT, but with all the crews here there is more people than "busy work" (trail and forestry site maintenance). So we spend lots of time bored. When we are on fires, I guarantee nobody on this board works harder than we do. But right now, we are not doing much.
Take advantage now of that bit of down time because if what Environment Canada is predicting happens and we have a dry hot summer, you will not have much down time then.
yeah, there's been some of that. of course, nobody has had time to come post on hipforums while working or anything like that. pizza is a little different than fast food though, just because we don't bring in as much money each day so there can be fewer people on staff at any given time, so if someone didn't contribute it would be that much more noticeable, and would pretty much require something to be done about that person. plus, the company i currently work for is fucking insane, and they require us to run about 5% lower labor than every other pizza company on the planet, so there is absolutely no time for anyone to stand around. plus, there's only one person per store who could be said to be making "all kinds of money." so even if most people are doing nothing, they're not making much for it either.
There's usually 3-6 people on a shift at my job. It's noticeable, but no one ever does anything about it. But now I have my cushy spot as ass manager (lol, I just like calling it that) and I make those bitches work or get off my clock. But somehow it seems on the other shift, there's always someone getting away with standing around while everyone else works.
yeah, there are a lot of shitty managers that just don't care, or just don't have the balls to make their people work. like i said before though, my current company is crazy and those managers generally don't last more than a couple months here. at most pizza places i've worked, there's just 2 people there at any given time except dinner rush (about 4 or 5pm to about 8 or 9pm), and one of the 2 is a driver who is out on delivery half the time. so if anyone doesn't do their part, it's glaringly obvious.
