I am 28, don't like children, don't like the idea of marriage and don't like long term relationships.

I want to get a vasectomy, because I just don't want to run that risk of spawning a dependent. I have done some research on the pros and cons about vasectomys. I was dead set on getting the operation done until I learned of some standard complications that can arise — persistent pain from the severed nerve endings of the vas deferens, scarring, bruising and the worst of all, possible rupturing of the epididymis due to fluid build up.

I wanted to get the perspective of some of the guys on here that have gone through with the procedure. Tell me all the pros and cons you have experienced since getting it done. Thanks!

I heard of a possible newer procedure that is better than the original one and less risky.

Vesectomys are the greatest. I was so glad I got mine before I got divorced. I hate condoms and had no problem dumping a load with several girls and not worry about a kid. If you ever meet a girl you want to hae a relationship with, don't tell her your fixed. If she wants to have a kid just tell her you guys have to keep trying. If she ends up pregnant than you know she's a slut and dump her dumb slut ass on the street....

Be careful, a lot of doctors won't do it unless you already have kids.

Of course vasectomies are all very well & good for preventing unwanted pregnancies, but it is a regrettable fact of life that these days the primary reason for using condoms is protection from STDs - something that vasectomies give absolutely no protection against.

Regardless of if a V protects against stds, they are still a good idea for someone who doesn't want to have any more kids.

Some doctors will refuse people in their 20's if they have no kids if they are just asked about it, but most will listen to a reasoned argument as to why a person wants it done.

They have no effect on performance, desire or anything else beyond reducing the possibilty of pregnancy to almost zero...

Notice that almost part, NOTHING is 100%

As for not telling someone you are getting in a relationship that you have had one, to use it to trap them... anyone with that frame of mind should just avoid relationships altogether as they are obviously not suited for a real one.

    That's basically why I haven't gotten one.

I've been thinking, while I don't PLAN to have any more sex in the immediate future, I will probably get a vasectomy soon, or at least before (if) I become sexually active again.

A host of reasons, including my already fucking up as far as kids go.... which makes me feel very guilty, I have some disorders that are passed on genetically, and if I ever wanted MORE kids, I would be adopting anyway, there's kids who need someone, there's no reason to make one when there's ones that don't have anyone.

I don't really differentiate between who's kid is who's, what matters is who takes care of them, the only thing to consider with DNA is potential problems it could cause, like me having diabetic kids. I don't care about colour and shit... So yeah, I think I'm going to nuke my nuts.

Still, have safe sex, of course.... but it adds another, rather thick, layer to pregnancy prevention (though I used to know a guy concieved after his dad had a vasectomy... so apparently it can regrow on it's own without surgery, but.... a lot less likely than if you never have one, ehh?)

I couldn't agree with you more!

What I see as being really irresponsible is the millions that are being spent on fertility research in a world that is already vastly overpopulated.

Piece of cake. Go for the scalpel-free procedure that uses a pointy forceps to poke a hole. No scar. In and out in an hour, and able to spend the day on my feet the following day...

I've had no issues with the vasectomy and no worries on pregnancy!
