I must relocate to a new city. I will have at least 6K by the end of the year, which is when I intend to relocate.

I currently live in Houston, Tx, which sucks in my opinion. Flat, boring, shitty climate and inefficient infrastructure compel me to look elsewhere.

ideally, I am looking for the exact opposite. Affordable as well.

I like to bicycle, both for fun and commuting, so a city with good mass transit and a nice matrix of bike lanes would be nice.

Also, a decent music/entertainment scene, chill vibe, and at the least, a job market where I can find work, any kind of work, immediately.

I only have a HS diploma, and will soon earn an A+ cert. Wherever I relocate to must have an affordable community college system. I plan on working for a stint after moving, and then going to school to finish my worthless associates degree.

The ideal city will also be near some great outdoor opportunities, like parks, lakes, w/e.

A big plus is if the area has a thriving environmental/sustainable scene and communes/ecovillages/alt living experiments.

This is probably waaaay too much to ask, but can y'all list some good leads based on my criteria?

    Thanks

Have you considered parts of northern California? Or perhaps Portland, OR or Seattle??

I hear Portland's has unemployment similar to Detroit.

And isn't northern cali just as expensive as the rest of cali?

Anywhere in Cali is going to be waaayyy too expensive for you to live. I would suggest Miami but it's kind of expensive as well, but not as bad as Cali.

from what you said I to would suggest Portland Org. I used to live in Vancouver Wa across the river. it is a very diverse city and there are lots of industry going on. if you are motivated I am sure you will find work. if you have a economical ride you can find cheap housing in the country and commute to the city.
Portland city has something for Everyone.
