Most Over Rated Rock And Roll Musican/ Band Of All Time?

Interested in who you all thinking right now.

There are a few in my opinion, but if I had to choose just one...

The Eagles ... fuckin wussy soft rock. Hotel California does kick ass, but the rest of their music has no flair, its barely even catchy.

I'd say the same thing about the Grateful Dead too, minus Hotel California.

 

Holy shit man I highly disagree with you. The eagles are fucking incredible. The Long Road Out of Eden is a fucking great song and cd. Fuck dude if you think their pussy because they sing about shit their passionate about then you should change styles or something. Because passion is what makes a song and a band.

But to answer the question, talent wise I would have to say Kiss. Paul Stanley is the only talented person and they sing about the same shit. For the most part

 

I'm sure they put a lot of passion into their work, no one who sells that many records doesn't. I feel the music they recorded is lifeless when you compare it to other rock and roll of the time. I mean, think Bowie, Zeppelin, Queen, The Ramones, Black Sabbath, Billy Joel, Neil Young etc... People revere them as this all time great band, but they could hardly scratch the top 25 of their time.

 

I saw the The Eagles a couple years back. they played good.

 

I agree with with the Eagles. I disagree with the Grateful Dead. I think the Grateful Dead is actually really underrated. They're a cult band. Their hardcore fans love them but no one else can be bothered to listen to them at all. I've found that 90% of the time when someone says they dislike the Grateful Dead its usually because they've heard maybe two songs out of their long, complex catalog.

I'm going to have to go with AC/DC.

^Phish. Duh. Why didn't I think of Phish? I hate Phish. Not to mention their fans have no sense of humor. I went to a Phish show once because it meant a road trip and an adventure, and I was in the hotel elevator with a bunch of Phish fans when my friend piped up, "So,if Grateful Dead fans are known as Deadheads, does that mean Phish fans are known as Phish sticks?" and not one of those damn Phishsticks laughed. No sense of humor, I tell ya. Fuck Phish.

 

When I think of terrible rock music I think of Nickelback.

 

oh yeah, phish blows. I don't know if you could really call Nickleback overrated, I've never heard of anyone talking about them as being one of the greats.

I agree with Phish being over rated, but they don't get played on the radio and I don't know any Phish fans. So the annoyance isn't no where near as bad.

No I haven't but I was under the impression we were talking about music here, I have seen The Labryinth though.

I enjoy him as an artist, I really do. But there's all these people who love him cause of his love for drugs (Which I'm not against at all) but no one seems to actually know his songs, other then his most famous ones. It's really annoying.
