Could Osama Bin Laden's death be a hoax

^ Bad source. But yes, the story around when the Iraq invasion began was that he had a serious incurable illness (of the kidneys, I believe). I think it's highly unlikely that he was still alive.

Something that we might want to consider as well is what we actually mean when we say "Osama bin Laden." Who are we really talking about? As a matter of record, it seems clear that there was a terrorist leader with that name. But he's become a character. No one's sure that he was behind the 9/11 attacks, though that's what everyone knows him for. We know many things about him, but we don't know which stories are true and which are false. We've seen pictures of him, but one would be hard-pressed to say they're all of the same person. Bin Laden is a character, like Orwell's Goldstein. Most of what is said about him is plausible, true of some people, though not necessarily the person who had the name Osama bin Laden. We're not talking about a person here, but an aggregate of ideas. When we are told he is dead, it is the idea that has died. As for the rest, it's completely ephemeral: no body, no photographs, no story. The man named Osama bin Laden may have been physically dead since 2001. That's not what this is about.

 

Hoaxes as hoaxes are concerned about, they should be believed about religiously. They are taken into account and part of one's right action, or speech, and trust of fellow citizens. If he is alive, you will become the Jewish Crusader and laughing stock to Him.

Well I'm not sure about the punch in the mouth. But it's a pretty correct comment. As it stands today, call a person "french" or "conspiracy theorist" and they are cosidered not worth listening to.

Have we? Most people don't encourage this and tend to avoid it really..I'm not sure about anyone else, but I try and avoid dark and gruesome images as I think there really bad for the soul! These cannot be good for the human psyche. If you are that way inclined, whats the point? Photos can be so easily digitally altered now, who knows whats real anymore. I think he's dead, but he was dead a long time ago.

I realize a lot of people, including myself, would like more information and documentation on this whole operation. But you need to understand that in order for his death to do good instead of incite half the world, he can't have been paraded around, he can't have a whole bunch of leaked photos, etc.

While it would compromise his alibi of being dead, I'm pretty sure bin laden would issue a statement about being alive, he's been hunted this long, his whole life revolves around playing games with the US, and this would be the BIGGEST way to discredit the US and obama administration.

As it is, he was properly and supposedly respectfully disposed of, and while his family will try to use it to get people riled up, if he was paraded around, or buried on land, it would REALLY get people pissed and we'd have a backlash.

As it is, maybe I just live under a rock, but I didn't hear anything about riots or anything. Seems to me that more people die when someone burns a koran or draws muhammad. Which would make this quite effective in that he's dead, and none of the people he was championing care.

Planting him in his own desert was not an option, it would have caused horrible problems. And planting him in the US was not an option, it would have caused "corpse stealing" outrage, as well as being a nice spot to send people to visit before blowing up our stuff.

You seem like a nice enough person and we all need to question the way we think from time to time. But remember that you can look at any and all cultures and religions to find something vulgar, distasteful or just plain stupid. You don't have to look far down the christian history lilne to find 9 year old girls being married to old men, priest quoting scripture as an excuse to bugger little boys or executing of aging wives through accusation of witchcraft instead allowing a man to ask for a divorce.
