I'm really baffled as to why this show didn't just get cancelled.

From what I heard, Ashton Kutcher isn't going to play Charlie's role. Instead he's going to be written into the plot as someone who rents Charlie's Malibu house (with Alan and Jake still there apparently), while Charlie is in rehab...

So that scenario might allow Charlie to return one day, while allowing Chuck Lorre to produce more shows now.

Exactly. A break from the serious news. Also the show IS hip. It skewers the lifestyle of the rich and self-centered. It's a social commentary, and a VERY funny one at that.

Leave it to Charlie Sheen to try to live large like his character on the show and his recent actions show how fantasy and real life aren't really compatible, even if you are filthy rich.

It shows how being rich doesn't really improve one's life except superficially. People are still the same assholes they always were.

Also (I could go on and on), Alan's character who tries to do right by everyone and gets screwed by life, is your common man, someone everyone can relate to. The contrast between him and Charlie is what drives the show's message. Anyone who doesn't read between the lines of the excellent scripts is missing all the fun!

I believe its a bad choice, the ratings will spike at first because people will be interested to see what ashton kutcher can do, but it will ultimately fail when people realize they miss charlie.

This show is pretty lame IMHO. I was forced to watch it over christmas with my girlfriends parents. Watched a few episodes and I'm not really a fan of it.

I'm not a big fan of sitcoms. Even 'That 70's show' was a bit drab to me.

But I think we could all agree that Ashton Kutcher's was the most unbearable (and overacted) character on it.

Agreed. There was always too much Kutcher not enough Masterson. If they made a 'Hyde' show, I would definitely watch it.

Though its a show that had its moments, I'll give it that. Like the one where chong guest starred and he was playing 'life' the board game. I believe he was WITH hyde on that one. Now THAT is solid, stoner humor gold.

That's the only prime example I can think of though, and when a show runs 8 seasons and you only get a handful of 'good' moments...its a lame show. So lets do the math, already lame show meets lame character... It either equals 'canceled in a season or two' or 'Ashton Kutcher is canceled in a season or two'

How about Brad Pitt? At least he can act, and he'd be believable since he'd get all the girls and make Alan look lame. That's the show right there...

Yeah I'm sure. I just think if there aren't any natural disasters, bombings, killings/deaths and the only thing they have is celebrity gossip....they newscaster should get on and say "Well folks, nothing happened today. Everything is okay"

    Wouldn't it be nice?

Sometimes they do, but its usually the weather man that says "oh what a nice day" and banter more banter.. I cant stand any living creature in a news rooms tbh... CNNFOXNBCCBSABC.ect.ect is just a lizard factory to me. A reality they have generated to survive on this planet. Their saleries are dependent on the very words they speak to contorl the living world of TV Land.. Its all meaningless to me really, about as significant as Mr Ed. :beatdeadhorse5: Their existence is very limited to earth. Universally this is the Hell they wish to have the most life in, beyond the moon they are nothing..:sunny:

It's going to suck lol. Ashton Kutcher is not cut out for that type of humor at all to me. Maybe I'll eat my words though. I dunno :)

I watched that 70s show mainly because of Hyde. I think I was in looove with him.

Ashton Kutcher really makes no sense to me for 2 and three quarters men. His brand of humor is pretty obvious and in your face, and while I'm not a huge fan of two and a half men, I have to give them credit for being subtle and not too over the top for the most part.

It would be wonderful but news networks wouldn't be able to line their pockets that way. They make their money from providing 24 hour disaster coverage when something bad happens and 24 hour celebrity break-down coverage on the slow days.
